  • Cupra Kiro announces Jensen for Rookie FP

    Mikkel Jensen to represent CUPRA KIRO in Formula E’s Rookie Free Practice ahead of the 2025 Jeddah E-Prix, 13th February.

    Sportscar racer, Jensen started his professional career in 2013 and transitioned from single-seater racing to prototype and GT competition in 2016 after finishing on the podiums in his European Le Mans Series (ELMS) debut at the Circuit Paul Ricard.

    Since making the switch, Jensen has forged a strong reputation in endurance disciplines, racking up 18 wins and 38 podiums over the past nine years, alongside class championship titles in ELMS and the IMSA Sportscar Championship in the USA.

    The Dane, who most recently raced at the 2025 edition of the Daytona 24 Hours, will bring a diverse perspective to cockpit in Jeddah, says the team, alongside extensive manufacturer experience as part of Peugeot’s FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar program.

    FP0 in Jeddah will mark the first time I’ve driven a single-seater racing car since racing in European Formula 3 in 2016, and I’m looking forward to the experience of driving a Formula E car for the first time. Formula E has interested me for a while now, and from my time preparing in the simulator, the car feels completely different to anything I’ve experienced before in my career. I would like to thank CUPRA KIRO for giving me this opportunity – I can’t wait to get started.

    I’m delighted to welcome Mikkel to CUPRA KIRO for Formula E’s upcoming FP0 rookie test in Jeddah. Mikkel is one of the best sportscar drivers of our generation and has consistently proven himself across WEC, IMSA, and ELMS in recent seasons. Alongside his strong natural instincts, which are important for any racing driver, Mikkel has good technical awareness and understanding, and holds extensive experience working with manufacturers at a World Championship level. His perspective and experiences will be important for FP0, which will be crucial to the continued development of our technical package for this season. I’m very excited for him to have his first experience of Formula E in Jeddah, and I can’t wait to see what he can do.

  • Envision sign O’Sullivan for Rookie FP

    Envision Racing has singed British racing driver Zak O’Sullivan for the Rookie Free Practice in Jeddah, as part of a new role that will see him also become a simulator driver.

    O’Sullivan boasts and impressive racing CV to date – with numerous wins in karting before stepping up to single seaters.

    In 2020, the 19 year old narrowly missed out on the British Formula 4 title, finishing runner-up before going onto win the GB3 Championship the following year.

    Two seasons for FIA Formula 3 followed and after stepping onto the podium twice in his rookie campaign in 2022, he became a title contender the following year – taking four wins and settling for the runner-up spot in the championship.

    Most recently, he has competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship where he took a sensational win in Monaco, before stepping onto the top step once again in Spa-Francorchamps. However, he was unable to complete the full season due to funding obstacles.

    However, his plans for this year has already been announced and the Brit is competing in the highly competitive Japanese Super Formula Championship for the 2025 season.

    I’m very excited to be going to Jeddah to test a Formula E car for the first time. It is going to be a new challenge for me. The session itself will provide a good opportunity for me to learn the car and I will also be making sure I spend as much time with the team as possible across the race week, so I absorb as much as I can.

  • Maini announced for rookie free practice

    Mahindra has announced Indian driver Kush Maini for the Rookie Free Practice in Jeddah on 13th February.

    The 24 year old, served as the team’s official reserve driver during Season 10, getting his first taste of action behind the wheel in the FIA’s all-electric series in May at the annual Berlin Rookie Test.

    In parallel, Maini also impressed in FIA Formula 2, claiming victory plus four further podiums in his sophomore season, and will also be returning again this season for a title fight.

    Mahindra Racing have enjoyed a strong start to Season 11, making the qualifying duels and scoring points at both rounds in Sao Paulo and Mexico City.
    The team currently sit fifth in the standings heading to Saudi Arabia next week with 22 points already – almost half the team’s total from last season.

    I’m excited to be back with Mahindra Racing for the Rookie Practice in Jeddah this month. I was very impressed with my first experience of Formula E in Berlin last season, and the new GEN3 Evo car is clearly another step up from that. I’ve been watching closely across the first two races this season and can’t wait to get behind the wheel for myself. The team has had a very strong start to the season, with a lot of the hard work from last year coming to fruition. It’ll be great to be back in that environment, and I’m sure with Mahindra’s ongoing support, we can have a productive session and build on the learnings from last year.

    Kush impressed everybody at the team in his role as our Reserve Driver last season, and it was a no-brainer to continue that relationship for the Rookie Practice in Jeddah. We’ve made a strong start to the season with our new car, but it’s important we make use of all the track time available to us to keep progressing. Kush’s work ethic, diligence and skill make him the perfect choice to slot into the team for the session, especially on what will be a new circuit for all the teams.

  • Rookie Free Practice for Jeddah E-Prix

    The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will introduce a Rookie Free Practice session as part of the Jeddah E-Prix, specifically designed for drivers who have never raced in the Championship.

    The 40 minute session, scheduled for Thursday 13th February, will provide experienced racing talent from other motorsport championships valuable track time to discover the new groundbreaking technology of Formula E’s GEN3 Evo car.

    The rookie free practice is only open to experienced racing drivers from other series, with a free practice only e-licence.
    It offers hand on experience with the latest Formula E technology, capable of 0-100km/h in 1.82s.

    Teams must nominate a driver and allocate a race car number seven days prior to the event, with the teams announcing drivers already.

    This initiative follows the successful inaugural Women’s Test in Madrid in October, and further emphasises Formula E and the FIA’s dedication to creating diverse and inclusive pathways for the next generation of racing drivers.

    Following on from the success of our Official Women’s Test in November, we’re thrilled to introduce this dedicated Rookie Free Practice session at the Jeddah E-Prix. It’s a crucial next-step in fulfilling our commitment to nurturing the next generation of racing talent, including young women. This opportunity to drive the cutting-edge GEN3 Evo car will provide invaluable experience for these young drivers, and we believe it will significantly contribute to developing the future stars of Formula E and motorsport as a whole.

    It’s crucial for the FIA to allow drivers to develop their careers through FIA World Championships, and the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship has one of the most competitive grids around. Many of its current stars gained their first Formula E experience in one of these rookie sessions or tests, and to provide such opportunities for the next generation of promising talents to discover the specifics of Formula E and EV racing – and adapt their driving style accordingly – is essential for the championship’s continuing growth.

  • Alessandro Alunni Bravi to leave Sauber

    Kick Sauber have confirmed that Alessandro Alunni Bravi will leave his position as Team Representative and Managing Director at the end of January 2025.

    After first joining the squad in 2017 as General Counsel and Board Member, Alunni Bravi became Managing Director in 2022 – focusing on marketing, communications, sales and other departments before taking the position of Team Representative in 2023 in all official functions at race weekends and away from the track.

    Now the Italian is set to move onto new prokects and admitted in a statement that seeing his journey with the team come to an end has been “emotional”.

    The news marks another change for Kick Sauber ahead of their transition into becoming Audi’s works outfit in 2026.

    As well as developments in the wider structure, the squad will field an all new driver line-up in 2025, with Nico Hulkenberg joining from Haas and rookie Gabriel Bortoleto making the step up after winning the 2024 Formula 2 Championship.

    Since I joined in 2017, I have seen this team grow and change beyond what anyone could have imagined. This organisation went through exciting and difficult times alike, all without ever losing its spirit and its commitment, which is something I find inspiring, and I was proud of being able to represent the team as its public face in the last two years. As I move on to a new project, I want to thank Finn Rausing, all those who put so much trust and faith in me at Sauber and Audi, and all the colleagues I have been working with for the last eight years. This team is a family and has a bright future ahead.

    Having worked closely with him in the months since my arrival to Hinwil, I want to pay tribute to Alessandro, a true team player who came to embody the essence of Sauber throughout the years. Alessandro played a wide range of roles within the team, steering it through difficult and exciting times alike.   • DAMS finalise 2025 line-up

    DAMS Lucas Oil have confirmed that Christian Ho will race for the team in the 2025 Formula 3 season, completing their lineup for the upcoming campaign.

    He joins the team from the Eurocup-3 2024 season in which he achieved five victories with nine podiums in just 16 races.

    Prior to that, the 18 year old finished second in the 2023 edition of the Spanish F4 Championship, scoring 13 podiums which included five wins.

    Ho will now step up to F3 with DAMS, meaning he is their third confirmed driver after Matias Zagazeta and Nicola Lacorte. Ho is set to be the first Singaporean driver in Formula 3 history.

    I’m proud to be the first F3 driver from Singapore, it feels amazing to join DAMS Lucas Oil and I’m raring to go. I’ve had a strong season Eurocup-3, and I’m aiming to carry this form into 2025. My target is to be competitive in the Championship, which is one of the toughest in the world, so I’ll work with the team to deliver the best possible results.

  • NEOM McLaren announce Dunne as reserve

    NEOM McLaren has signed Alex Dunne as the team’s Reserve and Development Driver for the 2024/25 season of the FIA ABB Formula E World Championship.

    In his role, Dunne will work directly with the team in Bicester and Woking, contributing to the team’s development, while growing his knowledge and experience within the series.
    Alex has been part of the McLaren Racing family since May 2024 when he joined the Driver Development programme.

    Dunne from Ireland, began his racing career at eight years old, before securing his first European karting title in 2019.
    In 2021, he made his single-seater debut competing in the 2021 Spanish F4 Championship, and securing a combined 16 race wins across the British, UAE and Italian Formula 4 Championships while racing for Hitech Grand Prix and US Racing.

    Dunne was crowned the 2022 British F4 Champion as well as the Italian F4 Championship runner-up.

    In 2023, Dunne was runner-up in the GB3 Championship with five victories and eight podiums. Last season he competed in the FIA Formula 3 Championship with MP Motorsport while continuing his development with the support of the McLaren Driver Development programme.

Working with NEOM McLaren as part of my experience in the McLaren Driver Development programme is an excellent opportunity to hone my skills.     I am delighted to welcome Alex to the team as the team’s Reserve and Development Driver. Alex is an up-and-coming talent in single seater motorsport and has been part of the McLaren Driver Development programme since last season, through which we have been able to follow his progress and development. Alex will play an important role within our team, adding value to the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team with his drive and talent, while also gaining experience himself along the way.

  • Andy Cowell becomes Team Principal at AM

    Aston Martin have announced that Andy Cowell will assume the role of Team Principal alongside his position as CEO with immediate effect, with Mike Krack moving to the position of Chief Trackside Officer as part of an organisation restructure.

    In a shift towards a flatter structure, Cowell – who previously joined the squad in October as CEO – will also become Team Principal, with the squad’s Aerodynamics, Engineering and Performance Departments both trackside and at the AMR Technology Campus reporting into him.

    Krack – who has held the role of Team Principal since 2022 – will focus on getting the most performance out of the car at the track in his role as Chief Trackside Officer.

    The AMR Technology Campus-based team, meanwhile are set to be led by new Chief Technical Officer Enrico Caridle, while Tom McCullough will remain with the group in a leadership position.

    Cardile will oversee the architecture, design and build of new race cars, having joined the team after leaving his position as Technical Director Chassis and Aerodynamics at Ferrari last year.

    McCullough who held the position of Performance Director and has worked with the team for 11 years – is set to play a role in the expansion of the team’s broader range of racing catgeories.

    I have spent the last three months understanding and assessing our performance, and I’ve been incredibly impressed by the dedication, commitment and hard work of this team. With the completion of the AMR Technology Campus and our transition in 2026 to a full works team, alongside our strategic partners Honda and Aramco, we are on a journey to becoming a Championship-winning team. These organisational changes are a natural evolution of the multi-year plans that we have scheduled to make and I’m incredibly excited about the future.

  • Alpine confirm Colapinto as reserve driver

    Franco Colapinto will join Alpine as one of their reserve drivers in 2025, it has been announced with the Argentinian racer further bolstering the team’s back-up pool for the season ahead.

    Colapinto burst on the F1 scene last year when Williams drafted him in to replace Logan Sargeant who was struggling for form in his second season – from the Italian Grand Prix weekend.

    Stopping his first full term in F2, which had yielded a breakthrough victory, the 21 year old immediately looked at home behind the wheel of F1 machinery, reaching Q3 and scoring points at only his second race weekend in Azerbaijan.

    Colapinto bagged another point at the United States Grand Prix and while subsequent incidents took the shine off his arrival, he had turned heads in the paddock and drew plenty of praise from Team Principal, James Vowles.

    Colapinto’s initial performances saw him linked with several rival teams over a potential 2025 race seat, but none of these ultimately materialised, while Williams had already signed Carlos Sainz to partner Alex Albon.

    Now following plenty of media reports, the next chapter of a rollercoaster F1 journey so far will see Colapinto to join Alpine’s reserve roster.

    We are very pleased to come to an agreement with Williams Racing to sign Franco Colapinto. Clearly, Franco is among the best young talents in motorsport right now. It is fair to say his appearance on the Formula One grid last year caught many, me included, by surprise and his performances have been very impressive for a rookie driver. We have an eye on our future and his signing means we have a great pool of young drivers to call upon and work with in developing the team for future success.

  • Williams confirm launch date for 2025 car

    Williams have announced that they will unveil their 2025 Formula 1 car on February 14th, with the FW47 being revealed in a bespoke one-off livery before the race livery for the campaign is unveiled during F1’s season launch event at London’s O2.

    As part of a special promotional event at Silverstone, the Grove outfit’s new challenger will break cover in front of fans, partner and media.

    It marks the beginning of a highly anticipated new era for Williams, with Carlos Sainz joining Alex Albon in their driver line-up as the squad look to work their way towards the front of the field.

    Williams are not the only team to announce their launch date, as Sainz’s former squad, Ferrari have confirmed that their 2025 challenger will be revealed on February 19th.

    There is a tremendous amount to look forward to for Williams in 2025 – we have fantastic race drivers in Alex and Carlos, top engineers joining from across the grid and new facilities becoming operational at our Grove HQ. As part of our comeback plan, we have been working on our 2025 car for some time and I can’t wait to see it at Silverstone on February 14. Everyone in the team is giving everything to get this team back where it belongs as we head towards the major rule changes for 2026. It’s going to be an exciting year.

  • Ryo Hirakawa joins Alpine as reserve

    Alpine have announced that Japanese racer, Ryo Hirakawa will be added to the team’s test and reserve driver pool for the 2025 season, joining confirmed Paul Aron.

    Hirakawa will bring wide-ranging motorsport experience to Alpine, having competed in various single-seater and endurance championships, as well as testing Formula 1 machinery with McLaren and Haas.

    Not only this, he also claimed overall victory at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2022 and is a two-time Hypercar champion in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2022 and 2023!

    The Japanese drivers role at Alpine will involve him participating in the team’s Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) programme and supporting with car development and technical understanding via their simulator.
    After a maiden practice run with McLaren in Abu Dhabi last year, and an appearance at the post-season test with Haas, the 30 year old will also get an FP1 outing on his home soil at the Japanese Grand Prix in April.

    It is an honour to be joining BWT Alpine Formula One Team as a Test and Reserve Driver for the 2025 season. As always, the opportunity of track time in Formula 1 machinery is the pinnacle for race drivers and I am excited to drive in Free Practice 1 in front of my home crowd at the Japanese Grand Prix, as well as working with the team testing previous cars. It is a great opportunity to be working with such a dedicated team that utilises the breadth of experience of its driver pool and I look forward to playing a part in making 2025 a positive year together.

  • F1 announces multi-year extension of Belgian GP

    Formula 1 has agreed a multi-year extension with the Belgian Grand Prix that will see the sport race at the iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in four of the next six years.

    The extension, which includes Grand Prix in the 2026, 2027, 2029 and 2031 seasons, follows significant investment at the circuit in recent year, including the addition of two new grandstands which increased capacity by 10,000 and enhancement of the off-track entertainment and fan experience.

    The Wallonian circuit is celebrated by fans and drivers alike for its mixture of long straights and challenging fast corners, including one of the most famous sections of racetrack in the world as drivers power through Eau Rouge and Raidillon, then on to the Kemmel straight.

    This year, the Belgian Grand Prix welcomed 380,000 fans across the race weekend in a gripping three days of action which saw Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton claim his second win of the season and his fifth at Spa.

    Built in 1921, Spa-Francorchamps was one of just seven circuits to be part of Formula 1’s maiden championship in 1950 and has since hosted 57 Grands Prix.
    Spanning 7.004km, it’s the longest circuit on the Formula 1 calendar and has seen some of the sport’s most decorated drivers, including Aryton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Niki Lauda and Sebastian Vettel win there.

    The Belgian Grand Prix was one of the races that made up our maiden Championship in 1950, so as we kick off our 75th anniversary year it is fitting that we can share the news of this important extension. Spa-Francorchamps is rightly lauded by drivers and fans alike as one of the finest racetracks in the world and it has played host to some incredible moments over its many seasons in Formula 1. In recent years it has undergone significant work to improve the facility and overall fan experience, and I would like to pay tribute to the promoter and the Government of Wallonia for their dedication and passionate support for Formula 1 in Belgium.

The circuit provides the Region with high-quality sports infrastructure capable of hosting exceptional events, and thanks to the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, Spa-Francorchamps, and through it, Wallonia, is placed at the centre of global attention. In addition to this international showcase, the event generates significant economic benefits for Wallonia, as well as for Belgium. The extension of this relationship over several years will also allow the circuit teams to plan for the future, which is hugely positive.

  • Van Amersfoort Racing confirm Bennett

    John Bennett will be stepping up to FIA Formula 2 this season with Van Amersfoort Racing the team has confirmed.

    Bennett took part in the final two rounds of the 2024 season for the Dutch team, he scored points in Lusail and then drove for the team during post-season testing around the Yas Marina Circuit.

    The British driver made his single seater debut in 2022, racing in the GB3 Championship before making his Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine bow in 2024.
    Bennett also drove for VAR during the post-season Formula 3 tests in October.

    Speaking about his step up to Formula 2 for 2025, the British driver said he was raring to get going.

  • Hadjar signs for RB

    Isack Hadjar will be making his Formula 1 debut this year as he takes the final seat on the grid after agreeing a deal to become Yuki Tsunoda’s teammate at RB.

    Red Bull Junior, Hadjar impressed in his second season in Formula 2, he finished as runner-up to Kick Sauber bound Gabriel Bortoleto with Campos Racing.

    After Sergio Perez was confirmed to be parting ways with Red Bull ahead of the 2025 season, Liam Lawson stepped up from RB in his place meaning there was a vacancy at RB for Hadjar.
    Red Bull opted to make Hadjar the 19th driver promoted to F1 from their junior programme, which began back in 2001.

    He follows in the footsteps of four time world champions Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel as well as eight time race winner Daniel Ricciardo.

    I’m very excited to step into my new role at VCARB. This is huge for myself, my family and all the people who have believed in me from the beginning. The journey from karting through the ranks in single-seaters, to now being in Formula 1 is the moment I’ve working towards my whole life – it is the dream. I feel like I’m stepping into a whole new universe, driving a much faster car and racing with the best drivers in the world. It’ll be a huge learning curve, but I’m ready to work hard and do the best I can for the team. I look forward to working with and learning from Yuki. I’ve always looked up to him, he went through the Red Bull junior programme like myself and we’ve shared a similar path to F1. He’s very experienced and will be good to learn from.

    We’re excited to have Isack with us next year, bringing a new and fresh dynamic to the team alongside Yuki in 2025. His journey to Formula 1 has been nothing short of outstanding. He has shown remarkable growth, with a series of impressive results in the junior single-seater ranks. He has the talent and drive necessary to compete at the highest level, and we have every confidence that he will adapt quickly and make a significant impact. I believe Isack and Yuki will make a great team. Yuki brings invaluable experience to the team. He’s shown incredible resilience and maturity, which will be crucial for the team as we strive to hit all our aims and objectives in 2025.

  • Bottas re-joins Mercedes as reserve

    Mercedes have announced that Valtteri Bottas will return to the team as a reserve driver for the 2025 season, after the Finn and Kick Sauber parted company following the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

    Bottas drove for Mercedes for five seasons alongside Lewis Hamilton from 2017 – 2021, securing all 10 of his career wins with the Silver Arrows, as well as his 20 pole positions in Formula 1.

    He would then join Sauber, known as Alfa Romeo at the time for the 2022 season after Mercedes chose to promote George Russell in his place, the Finn enduring mixed fortunes with the Swiss team ranging from a strong 10th in 2022 to failing to score at all in 2024.

    When Kick Sauber opted not to re-sign Bottas for 2025 – instead choosing a new combination of Nico Hulkenberg and Brazilian rookie Gabriel Bortoleto – the Finn began talks with Mercedes about a reserve role in a bid to stay in the conversation as he pursues a racing return next season.

    His reserve role will involve him attending most, if not all, the Grand Prix and supporting George Russell and debutant Kimi Antonelli.

    Returning home to the Mercedes family as third driver for 2025 is what’s next and I couldn’t be more pleased. I want to thank Toto [Wolff, Mercedes team boss], the team at Brackley, and everyone at the three-pointed star for welcoming me back with open arms.Despite the challenges of the past few years, I know that I’ve still got so much more to contribute to F1. Since I was a five-year-old kid growing up in Nastola, Finland, my focus has been on achieving success in the top tier of motorsport. I’ve been fortunate to have enjoyed many incredible moments in my 12 years of racing in F1 so far. As I return to the place where so many of those moments were achieved, I’m looking forward to using all the knowledge I’ve gained to help the team to perform and progress towards our goal of fighting for world championships.

    Welcome home, Valtteri! It’s great to have you back. His impact and contribution in the five years he was with us previously as our race driver was immense. Along with scoring multiple Grands Prix wins, he played a vital role in five of our championship victories. His technical feedback and input were important in helping us to those successes and pushing the team forward. Not only that, but he was also a fantastic colleague and team member. His dry sense of humour and personable nature made him a firm favourite with everyone at Brackley and Brixworth. In his role as Reserve Driver, all those qualities will be incredibly important in helping us compete for world championships and supporting both George and Kimi on track.

  • Lawson confirmed for Red Bull

    Red Bull have chosen Liam Lawson to replace Sergio Perez and become Max Verstappen’s team mate this year.

    Just before Christmas it got announced that Sergio Perez will be leaving the team with immediate effect after agreeing a deal to part ways with the team despite having two years left on his contract.

    When Red Bull opted to make a change with Perez, they narrowed down the shortlist to either promoting Lawson or his RB teammate Yuki Tsunoda.

    New Zealander, Lawson got the nod after impressing in two super-sub stints with Red Bull’s sister team – first when he replaced the injured Daniel Ricciardo for five races towards the end of 2023, and second when he replaced Ricciardo from the United States Grand Prix onwards in 2024.

    To be announced as an Oracle Red Bull Racing driver is a lifelong dream for me. This is something I’ve wanted and worked towards since I was eight years old. It’s been an incredible journey so far. I want to say a massive thank you to the whole team at VCARB for their support, the last six races have played a huge part in my preparation for this next step. I also want to thank, Christian [Horner, Red Bull boss], Helmut [Marko, Red Bull Motorsport Adviser] and the whole Red Bull family for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.     I’m delighted to announce that Liam Lawson will join the team in 2025. Liam’s performances over the course of his two stints with Visa Cash App Racing Bulls have demonstrated that he’s not only capable of delivering strong results but that he’s also a real racer, not afraid to mix it with the best and come out on top. His arrival continues the Team’s long history of promoting from within the Red Bull Junior Programme and he follows in the footsteps of championship and race-winning drivers such as Sebastian Vettel and of course, Max Verstappen. There’s no doubt that racing alongside Max, a four-time champion and undoubtedly one of the greatest drivers ever seen in F1, is a daunting task, but I’m sure Liam can rise to that challenge and deliver some outstanding results for us next year.

  • Perez and Red Bull part ways

    Sergio Perez and Red Bull have reached an agreement to part ways with immediate effect.

    Last year, Perez signed a new deal to race for the team until the end of 2026 – on the back of his strongest season ever in 2023, when he finished second to team mate and champion Max Verstappen.

    However, his form wasn’t the same after signing that deal, the Mexican driver scored only nine points in the last eight Grand Prix weekends of the 2024 season.

    He finished the season in eighth in the drivers’ championship with Red Bull failing to defend their constructors’ championship and seeing out the season in P3 behind champions McLaren and runners-up Ferrari.

    Throughout the difficult period and many rumours, Perez remained resolute that he would race for the team this year, but following discussions with Red Bull they’ve agreed to split after four years together.

    During his time at Red Bull Perez secured five wins, including victory in Monaco, over 90 starts with the team and also played a key role in Red Bull winning the constructors’ championship in 2022 and 2023.

    I’m incredibly grateful for the past four years with Oracle Red Bull Racing and for the opportunity to race with such an amazing team. Driving for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience and I’ll always cherish the successes we achieved together. We broke records, reached remarkable milestones, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people along the way. A big thank you to every person in the team from the management, engineers and mechanics, catering, hospitality, kitchen, marketing and communications, as well as everyone at Milton Keynes, I wish you all the best for the future.     I would like to thank Checo for all he has done for Oracle Red Bull Racing over the past four seasons. From the moment he joined in 2021 he proved himself to be an extraordinary team player, helping us to two constructors’ titles and to our first one-two finish in the drivers’ championship. His five wins, all on street circuits, were also a spectacular mark of his determination to always push to the limit.   • Ferrari announce launch date

    Lewis Hamilton’s first Ferrari Formula 1 car will break cover on February 19th, a day after the sport’s inaugural season launch at London’s O2 to mark its 75th anniversary.

    Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur revealed the date during the Italian team’s annual Christmas media event, where it was held at their Fiorano test track.

    Vasseur also confirmed the team will run the 2025 car on February 19th but did not give any more details as to who will drive, nor any information on what the launch will look like.

    Following their event at Maranello, Ferrari will head straight to Bahrain for three days of testing, which begins on February 26th at the Bahrain International Circuit.
    Hamilton and new team mate Charles Leclerc will get one and a half days of running between them at the desert venue before the season opener in Melbourne, Australia.

    We will have a couple of test days with TPC [testing of previous cars] and Pirelli [tyre test running] before Bahrain. It’s a very short period. At the end of the day, you have launch of the car on Feb 19 – and then we are going directly to Bahrain for the first test and to Melbourne. It means this will be a rush, but I’m not worried at all. He [Hamilton] is coming with experience of this. He did almost 20 seasons in F1 – and he will manage perfectly this period. We know that we will have a lot of procedures to assimilate during these couple of days, but I think he is experienced enough to do it. We’ll have the advantage to have the simulator. Obviously he will be able to do a race simulation, quali simulation into the simulator, and to be fully prepared with the steering wheel and the particularities of the race. But honestly, I’m not worried about this. It’s not the biggest challenge.

  • Madrid to host F2 & F3 races from 2026

    The Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, set to take place in Madrid from 2026 to 2035, will also feature the FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 Championships.

    The ten year agreement brings the lower-tier F1 categories to Madrid, enriching the fan experience with not only the thrill of top-tier racing but also the opportunity to witness the merging talents on the road to Formula 1.

    This agreement was signed by FIA F2 and FIA F3 CEO Bruno Michel, Jose Vicente de los Mozos, President of the Executive Committee of IFEMA Madrid, Daniel Martinez, Executive Vice-President of IFEMA Madrid and Luis Garcia Abad, General Director of IFEMA Madrid.

    Having both Formula 2 and Formula 3 racing on the same weekend as Formula 1 underscores the commitment of the Spanish GP organisers to deliver a sporting and entertainment experience for fans.

    I am extremely happy to bring F2 and F3 to Madrid, at this exciting new venue. It’s important that the young drivers in both our championships get to race on as many F1 tracks as possible. With the addition of Madrid to the Formula 1 calendar, it was logical that F2 and F3 would follow suit. I am really looking forward to our cars providing the spectators with some thrilling racing.

  • Doriane Pin returns for second season

    Doriane Pin will be returning to the F1 Academy grid, for her second season as the Mercedes junior looks to go one better this season.

    Scoring three victories and an additional five podiums en route to becoming the Vice Champion this year, Pin will remain behind the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG F1 Academy entry operated by PREMA Racing.

    The French racer will also benefit from additional track time, as she combines her second F1 Academy season with a second season in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA).

    Determined to fight for the championship in the Mercedes colours, the Iron Dame expressed her delight at continuing the partnership for a second season.

    Doriane has enjoyed a very successful first season in single-seaters. Making the switch from GT and endurance cars is never easy, as both the driving style and skill set required is different. She has handled that change well, achieving success in several championships and competing strongly in F1 ACADEMY She has scored some notable successes and finishing second overall in her first season in the category is a superb achievement. Considering the progress she has taken this year and the experience she now has, we are confident that Doriane can fight for the F1 ACADEMY title in 2025.   • Emma Felbermayr joins F1 Academy

    Emma Felbermayr will be making her F1 Academy debut next season, as Kick Sauber have announced that the Austrian driver will be representing them on the grid this season in her Rodin Motorsport car.

    Beginning her racing journey at 7 years old in karting, Felbermayr went on to compete in her first national race in the Micro Class the following year before progression onto the Mini Class and then Junior level.

    At 13 years old, she competed in her first international race, finishing runner-up in the 2021 ADAC Ladies Cup.
    The following year saw her step up into the Senior category, racing in the German championship, WSK races and the World Championship.

    Following a rib injury in early 2023, Felbermayr moved into the KZ category. Alongside competing in the German Championship and ADAC Kart Masters, she qualified 23rd overall out of 119 drivers.

    As part of her racing programme, the 17 year old will be participating in the 2025 Formula Winter Series and Spanish F4 Championship with Rodin.

    I’m proud and thrilled to be joining KICK Sauber F1 Team for the 2025 F1 ACADEMY season. This is an incredible opportunity to take the next step in my racing career and to challenge myself at this exciting level.   • Duerksen confirmed for 2025

    AIX Racing have confirmed that Joshua Duerksen will be joining the team this year for a second campaign in FIA Formula 2.

    The Paraguayan driver completed his rookie campaign in the Championship with the team in 2024, achieving four podium results along with two race wins, including the season-ending Yas Marina Feature Race.

    Duerksen made the jump up to Formula 2 after competing in the 2023 edition of Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine where he secured multiple points finishes and a podium.

    I am really excited and happy to announce that I will continue one more year with AIX Racing. We had a great season this year, having four podiums and two wins. And of course, I hope that next year we can replicate a lot more of this success. The progress of the year has been incredible. And I am just extremely happy that you can see me with these colours again next year.

  • Alisha Palmowski to drive for RB

    Alisha Palmowski has become the eighth driver locked in for the 2025 F1 Academy campaign, with the Brit joining the Red Bull Racing Academy programme for next season.

    The 18 year old will be driving for Campos Racing alongside Red Bull Ford’s Chloe Chambers and RB’s Rafaela Ferreira, who are all part of the Red Bull Academy programme.

    Palmowski has already had her first taste of F1 Academy, competing as the Wild Card entry for Round 6 in Lusail, Qatar.
    A promising weekend saw her qualify sixth and fourth, before going on to score a P5 finish in Race 1.

    Starting her career in karting back in 2018, she achieved the Junior Vice Champion title in the Daniel Ricciardo Series in 2020 and 2021.
    Stepping up to cars in 2022, the following year saw her finish fifth in the Ginetta Junior Championship with 10 podiums.

    Selected as a BRDC Rising Star last year, Palmowski brought home more success in her first year in single-seaters, becoming the Vice Champion in the GB4 Championship with three wins, two pole positions and 11 podiums – the most in the field.

    I am incredibly excited and honoured to be joining the Red Bull Racing Pepe Jeans Programme in F1 ACADEMY for 2025. Oracle Red Bull Racing is one of the best teams on the grid, and to see the talent they have brought through the doors and to get to be a part of that next generation is something that I could never have imagined.   • Ferrari to supply GM with power units

    Ferrari have announced that they have entered into an agreement with the General Motors/Cadillac F1 project to supply the team with power units and gearboxes starting in 2026, the year in which the manufacturer could potentially join the grid.

    It was confirmed in November that Formula 1 had reached an agreement in principle to support bringing GM/Cadillac as the 11th team in the field in 2026, while news followed in early December that former Marussia Sporting Director Graeme Lowdon had been appointed Team Principal.

    Now Ferrari have confirmed a technical collaboration agreement with GM/Cadillac, subject to the team receiving confirmation from the FIA and F1 that their entry to the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship has been accepted and approved.

    It’s great to see the commitment of another American team, backed by one of the most highly respected marques in the motor industry, at a time when Formula 1 is increasing in popularity in the United States. We are delighted therefore that we will be supplying the team with our power unit and gearbox as the basis of this technical collaboration. It means we will continue to have two ‘customer teams’ in the championship with all the benefits this brings in terms of technical development within Ferrari.

  • Josep Maria Marti continues with Campos

    Campos Racing have confirmed that Josep Maria Marti will continue with the team for the 2025 Formula 2 season, completing their lineup for next season following the announcement of Arvid Lindblad.

    Marti returns for a second season of F2 after a rookie campaign in which he achieved four podiums, including a Yas Marina Sprint Race victory.

    Marti and Campos share a long history together, with the 19 year old having raced for the team each year since stepping up to single seater racing in 2019.
    Including in the 2023 Formula 3 season when he fought for the title before finishing the season in fifth.

    The Spanish driver is now set to return for a fifth season with Campos colours, following the announcement Marti expressed his delight at continuing with the team.

    I’m very excited to be returning today Campos Racing for my 2nd season in Formula 2 in 2025. Since the start of my single seater career, Adrian father and son have had faith in me and now we are facing our fifth season together. I am confident that with this team that I consider as family, and the hard work that we have put in during 2024, we will be very competitive and surely a top contender.     I am happy that Pepe and Campos Racing can continue working together for the fifth consecutive year.   • PREMA complete 2025 line-up

    Sebastian Montoya will graduate to Formula 2 next season with PREMA Racing the team have confirmed.

    The Colombian driver joins Gabriele Mini for 2025, completing the Italian outfit’s line-up for next season.

    Montoya completed in his second FIA Formula 3 campaign this year, finishing the season with six points finishes, including a P2 in the Spa-Francorchamps Feature Race.

    The Red Bull Junior Team driver started his single seater racing career with PREMA in 2020, racing in Italian F4 with the team and finishing fourth overall the following year.

    He then moved onto Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine for 2022 before making the step up to FIA F3 full-time in 2023.

    I’m very excited to join PREMA for the 2025 FIA Formula 2 season. It was the first team I worked with and that makes it very cool to see how the team changed. It is one of the best teams in feeder series racing and now in the world. I’m delighted to join forces with it again and cannot wait to get it started.

  • Hitech Pulse-Eight confirm Beganovic

    Hitech Pulse-Eight have confirmed that Dino Beganovic will be stepping up to Formula 2 full-time next season, completing their 2025 lineup.

    Beganovic graduated to F2 for the final two rounds of the 2025 season, scoring 22 points across the Lusail and Yas Marina weekend, including a P3 finish in the final Sprint Race of the year.

    This followed his title-contending 2024 Formula 3 season in which he achieved two victories and a further two podiums on his way to ending up sixth in the Standings.

    Prior to that, the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy member won the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine and following the announcement of his plans for 2025, the Swede expressed his delight at the news.

    I’m thrilled to join Hitech GP for my first full season in Formula 2 next year. Having had a brief introduction to F2 over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been really impressed by the car and the level of the championship. Stepping up full time in 2025 with one of the series’ top teams is an amazing opportunity. I’m tremendously grateful to Hitech, Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, and everyone else who made this possible. It’s a big, important step in my career and I can’t wait to start working with the team this week at the post-season test.

  • Miyata joins ART Grand Prix for 2025

    ART Grand Prix have announced that Ritomo Miyata will join the team next season in Formula 2.
    The Japanese driver completed his rookie campaign this year, finishing the season with eight point finishes across the campaign.

    Miyata joined Formula 2 after winning the Super Formula and Super GT GT500 titles in 2023.
    Prior to that, the Toyota Gazoo Racing driver secured victories in Japanese Formula 4 and the Super Formula Lights series’, winning titles in both categories in 2020 and 2017 respectively.

    Speaking about his move to ART, Miyata said that he was hugely excited to be joining a team which has achieved so much success in Formula 2.

    I am thrilled to announce that I will be competing in the 2025 FIA Formula 2 season with ART Grand Prix. I am deeply grateful to Morizo-san (Akio Toyoda) and everyone at TGR for giving me another opportunity to race in Formula 2. I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks to ART Grand Prix for warmly welcoming me into their team.   • Meguetounif steps up to Formula 2

    Trident have confirmed their first driver signing for the 2025 FIA Formula 2 season with Sami Meguetounif set to step up to the second tier with the team this year.

    The Frenchman had a strong 2024 campaign with the team in Formula 3, finishing eighth in the Championship Standings thanks to his two feature race victories in Imola and Monza.

    Prior to that, Meguetounif took part in the 2022 and 2023 season of Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine achieving several podiums across his two seasons in the category.

    He will now graduate to Formula 2 with Trident, the 20 year old expressed his delight at not only stepping up to F2 but also doing so in familiar surroundings.

    I am very happy and excited to make my debut in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Team Trident. When I made my debut in Formula 3 with the Italian team twelve months ago, I did not think I would grow so quickly. This year I have worked with strong, intelligent and determined people. We have had an incredible season, which has allowed me, also thanks to two wonderful victories, to convince those who support me that it was time to move up a ladder. I can’t wait to take part in the Formula 2 post-season tests and enter a new phase of my career.

    We are very pleased to announce that Sami Meguetounif will compete with Trident Motorsport in the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship. We had the pleasure of working with Sami this year in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, obtaining remarkable results, as he has proven to be a winning driver. The move to the higher category represents a natural step at this stage of his career. I am sure that Sami has all the qualities to learn quickly and have a competitive season.

  • PREMA confirm Mini for 2025

    Gabriele Mini will step up to FIA Formula 2 in 2025 with PREMA Racing the Italian outfit have confirmed.

    The Alpine Academy driver finished as runner-up in this seasons’ FIA F3 campaign, taking one win and four podiums across the season.

    Mini has already driven in Formula 2 for PREMA, as he deputised for Oliver Bearman earlier in the year for Round 12 in Baku,
    He was able to secure a podium finish in the Sprint Race, ending up third on the rostrum.

    Earlier in his career, Mini race with PREMA in Italian Formula 4 back in 2021 before reuniting with the team in F3 in 2024 after two seasons away.

    The 19 year old is a member of the Alpine Academy and has been since the beginning of 2023.
    He also took part in the rookie test in Formula E with Nissan Formula E Team.

    Very happy to be joining PREMA in FIA F2 and to keep working together for another season. We showed excellent potential and speed throughout the whole year in Formula 3. After the great run at Baku, I hope we will keep working that way to try and fight at the front end of the championship again. I’m grateful for the opportunity and I want to thank All Road Management, Alpine, and everyone involved.

    We are thrilled to continue working with Gabriele. We always kept him in very high regard, and after getting back with him for FIA F3, we are already looking forward to making the next step together. Having an early start was a great opportunity for both, especially because we have maximized it with some impressive results. Preparations for the year ahead have already started and the early signs are definitely promising.
