  • Day 2 Bahrain- F2

Second day is done!✅ On a Saturday we have both sprint races.

Sprint Race 1- First sprint race of the season and let me tell you it did not disappoint… Liam Lawson got away beautifully, he started P3 and finished P1 making his Formula 2 debut one to remember! Jehan Daruvala and David Beckmann completed the top three.

One person that stood out to me was Robert Schwartzman, he didnt have much luck on Friday however he started P11 and finished P4 just missing out on a podium 😕.

There was four retirements in total, that included Pourchaire, Armstrong, Boschung and Verschoor all different reasons however not a good start to the season, every point counts…

Sprint Race 2- Now onto the second sprint race of the weekend… Once again another race with drama and amazing overtakes. Reigning Formula 3 champion Oscar Piastri took the win after overtaking Guanyu Zhou. However, Zhou fell to third after Lungaard made a last minute move, making it an all Alpine academy podium.

One person who stood out to me this sprint race was Richard Verschoor who started 22nd and finished 5th! He was unlucky in the first sprint race with a DNF but he brought it back in the second!

First lap battles- Unfortunately two drivers were out after turn 1 as they collided and they were Robert Shwartzman and Dan Ticktum, it ended up bringing out the first safety car of the race.

The next collision was Zendeli and Lungaard, Zendeli was clipped by Lungaard and then suffered a puncture. However Lungaard suffered a 10 second time penalty which he served in the pits later on.

Next up we have the feature race which is today and the starting grid is below :)

  • Round 1- Bahrain Quali

Oh what a fight the first Qualifying of 2021 was !! I was on the edge of my seat literally watching it🤣.

MAX is on pole! Got to give it to him he deserves it massively, he topped all the time sheets of free practice as well as bringing the fight to Lewis whenever he topped his time in qualifying too. Follows him is both the Mercedes, and I am prepared to see the fight tomorrow👀

A team I am shocked at is Ferrari, they have obviously sorted out their problems last year and improved quite a bit, however I don’t think I should be so quick to judge as it is only the first race weekend out of 23.

Somebody I do have to mention is Tsunoda, his obviously a rookie but you wouldn’t think it how he drives the Alpha Tauri, he is on fire!!🔥 He is starting 13th on the gird however I think thats good for his first quali!

Mr Saturday (George Russell) remains Mr Saturday as he out qualifies his team mate once again and starts 15th on the grid. I do feel like Williams have improved since last year and I hope to see them in the points at some point this year.

One person I am gutted about is Vettel, his starting P18 on the grid tomorrow and thats because of a yellow flag as Mazepin spins in Q1 and messes up his lap, which is obviously unfortunate but its racing at the end of the day, however the real results are tomorrow!

My predictions for the podium tomorrow is P1- Hamilton P2- Verstappen and P3- Gasly. I would like to see Tsunoda in the points and also see the two McLaren boys be in the top 10!

  • Bahrain Day 1-F2

So, the season is now fully underway, with the season starting in Bahrain. First up we have free practice and it went a bit like this….

Felipe Drugovich who drives for Uni-Virtuosi’s finished the fastest in the opening session, behind him with a 1:45.481 was Dan Ticktum who also has been announced today that his continuing with Williams to be their development driver. After an impressive pre-season testing Liam Lawson slid into third just two tenths short behind Ticktum.

The popular Ferrari Academy pair, Robert Schwartzman who drives for PREMA and Marcus Armstrong who drives for DAMS made it fourth and fifth.

Now onto qualifying… Guanyu Zhou has took the first pole position for the first race this season and for the second year in a row!! He stole pole from Lungaard by beating him by 0.003s, in third we have Felipe Drugovich.

There was a red flag near the end of the session and that was due to PREMA’s Robert Schwartzman came to a stop down the pit straight. Leaving the rest of drivers 5 minutes to get a time on the board.

Finishing 10th in Quali, David Beckmann will however start Sprint Race 1 from reverse grid pole tomorrow.

Come back for more updates tomorrow on both F1 and F2!

  • The Final 3

And finally F2 have all their drivers ready and announced for the first race of the season which is this weekend!!

Trident made a double announcement that they have re-signed Marino Sato for the 2021 season and as well they have announced they have signed Bent Viscaal for this seasons opener in Bahrain.

21 year old Sato is entering his second full season of Formula Two with the Italian team. Sato made his debut in F2 in the final part of 2019 the same year where he cruised to the Euroformula Open title where he had nine wins, eleven podiums, six poles and five fastest laps.

Viscaal made his F2 debut in the pre-season testing for Trident and now gets to do it in the first race of the season as well, his made the step up from Formula 3.

Richard Verschoor completes the line up for MP Motorsport, he is making his F2 debut this weekend. His moved up from Formula 3 after finish 9th last year and 13th in 2019.

Overall for the 2021 season we have 9 rookies, which is just under half the grid👀 its definitely going to be an exciting season for sure.

  • The Mid Field Battle

The mid field battle is always the best, there’s always drama on and off the track, last year we had the mid field battle being McLaren, Racing point and Renault.

McLaren ended up third last year in the constructors championship after a strong season, they are eventually making their way back up to the top to fight for the championship…

Will it be the same three battling again or will McLaren be taking the fight to Red Bull?

I personally hope that they do take the fight to Red Bull. I want to see the McLaren boys up on the podium more and fighting for wins! Although I do think they have more of an advantage as they now have Daniel Ricciardo and Lando had a strong season last year

It will be interesting to see how Alpine and Aston Martin do this year, obviously they both have two drivers who weren’t in their team last year so it may set them back a little bit as they won’t be use to the car.

If pre-season testing is anything to go by McLaren were very quick and it seemed Daniel settled in quickly. Aston Martin had quite a few problems over the course of the weekend. And Alpine wasn’t actually that bad, I thought they would of been worse to be honest…

I think it’s going to be a very close season this year especially because of how many races there are, we could see a variety of drivers on the podium this year…

Only one more week to go till the first race!

  • Mercedes vs Red Bull

So one of the biggest rivalries on grid is Mercedes and Red Bull, they are the two top teams who are always fighting against each other for the top spot on the podium.

Every race weekend we always see Mercedes and Red Bull pushing each other, however there hasn’t been two consistent drivers at Red Bull to properly push the silver arrows… However could this all change this year, with having Sergio Perez teamed up with Max Verstappen?

I always believe that you can never go by how the teams are in pre-season testing as the top teams always hide how good they are but Mercedes have never been that bad before and I don’t know if thats a sign to show whats to come in this season or not?

There was too many things going wrong for the Mercedes team over the weekend such as Lewis’ two spins which included one bringing out a red flag, also the amount of grip and pace they didn’t have, they was all over the track! (and not in a good way) They also run into an issue on the first session of the first day which only let Bottas do as not as many laps as he would of wanted.

Red Bull was very consistent over the weekend and they also had the pace unlike the Mercedes. Red Bull have been pushing everything to stop the Mercs from winning another championship and I do think they could possibly do it, IF and thats a very big if Mercedes don’t sort out their problems before the first race which is in 10 days time.

If Mercedes do some how sort out all their problems and have the pace unlike testing, I do still think Red Bull will have a strong fight against them and there will be a few interesting battles on the track this year!

  • Pre-season testing F1

Finally! We are back pre-season testing started this weekend in Sakhir,Bahrain. Heres a little overview of how the weekend went…

Day 1- It seems Daniel Ricciardo settled into McLaren very quickly, he set the fastest time of a 1:32.203 in the morning session and showed the others how the McLaren can do. He was swiftly followed by Pierre Gasly who set a 1:32.231 and who also had the most laps out of the 10 drivers. However it wasn’t so plain sailing for the Mercedes, after the pit lane opened Bottas was back in the garage after 45 minutes and only 1 lap done, they had to replace the gearbox but he managed to get back out with 40 minutes to go and went 10th fastest. The first red flag was called for the 2021 season and that was due to Charles Leclerc as he suffered a possible power unit issue.

Onto the afternoon session and the drivers were met with a sandstorm, however that didn’t stop any of them! Verstappen drove for Red Bull all day and looked very comfortable after the morning session, he topped the timesheets with a 1:30.674. Verstappen was followed by Lando Norris he managed to put in a 1:30.889, so it seems a very consistent day for the two McLaren boys. As for Mercedes, Lewis managed to add 42 laps to their total however he was struggling for grip and pace too…

    Day 2-

Another session of Ricciardo back on top he clocked a 1:32.215! He really has settled in to the team quickly and its so nice to see☺️. There was quite a few spins during the morning session which included a red flag and that was brought out by 7 time world champion Lewis, he spun and went into the gravel leaving himself stuck. However once things got started again returning 2 times world champion Fernando Alonso came out second with a 1:32.339, followed him was Perez with a 1:32.478. It looks like Aston Martin are not doing too good, Vettel only managed six laps before a gearbox issue…

Now onto the afternoon, Bottas went fastest overall with a 1:30.289 and it was good to see the Mercedes back on top😌. Pierre Gasly followed close behind with a 1:30.413. However Lance Stroll finished 3rd overall even though his team mate finished at the bottom of the time sheet.

    Day 3-

Onto the final day of testing… and Perez was on fire he topped the leader board for the morning session with a 1:30.187 and was swiftly followed by Leclerc who had a 1:30.486 and then to finish the top three was Lando Norris with a 1:30.661. The McLarens have had a pre-season testing with no issues at all over the weekend! Finally, we get to see George Russell back on track! It was his first outing over the testing weekend and he kept it steady throughout his first session and finished P8 overall…

It was a good day and weekend for the Red Bulls! Verstappen topped the charts for the final session of the weekend with a 1:28.960. Followed him was rookie Yuki Tsunoda he finished with a 1:29.053, I have got to say i’m impressed! He has got the swing of things so quick, definitely think he is one to watch out for this season 👀 Sainz finished the top three for this afternoon with a 1:29.611, at the end of the session he had a brief moment with Raikkonen after they both touched and gone off the track… Hamilton finished 5th overall after he lost valuable time in the first hour of the session. And finally Russell finished 6th overall with a 157 laps behind him!

And that is a wrap on pre-season testing! Two weeks to go till we are back in Bahrain 🤩. Will Mercedes be able to pull through? Can the Red Bulls keep it up and bring the fight, or have they peaked too early?

  • SF21

Finally, all 10 teams have now revealed their 2021 challengers. Ferrari were the last to reveal their car this year. To be honest I wasn’t expecting much change as Ferrari is known for its iconic red…

I love the fact its bright red to then a burgundy red towards the back of the car I think it looks really cool. However one of the things everyone has noticed is the Green Mission Winnow symbol at the back… Personally I think it should either be black or white, as it would a lot more slick than what it does now.

Only one day to go until testing in Sakhri, Bahrain and just over two weeks till the first race weekend of the year…🥳Below is the line up for this weekends testing.

  • Pre-Season Testing F2

So for the past 3 days, Formula Two has been testing there 2021 cars in Sakhir, Bahrain this year we have 6 hours of testing a day over the three days and they spilt it to 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours for afternoon testing. Testing went somewhat like this…

Day 1- As usual in the morning they all set off for their installation lap, then went back to the garage to do further works on their cars. However once things got started again, there was a red flag as Richard Verschoor came to a halt down the back straight in the lead up to turn 14. Once things got started again Dan Ticktum came out on top in the morning session.

MP were back out straight away in the afternoon session with Zendeli taking back his place at the top of the timesheets with a time of 1:45.010. Reigning F3 champion Piastri made his first appearance at the top of the charts towards the halfway point off the afternoon. However none of the Formula Two drivers could match Beckmann as the rookie finished the afternoon top of the tables with a 1:42.844

Day 2- Lungaard was a familiar presence at the top of the timesheets in the morning session, his time of 1:43.514 was only the start to his morning as he cemented his position in P1. Viscaal managed to sneak into second behind Lungaard towards middle way of the morning session. Marcus Armstrong was looking more comfortable with his DAMS car on the second morning as he finished in the top three, which beat his P9 on Monday morning.

13 cars went out on track when the lights went green in the afternoon session, however a red flag stopped the session after Petecof stopped at turn 13. After resuming the session there were a further two red flags as Lawson and Zhou both stopped on the track, however both managed to get back out onto track. Dan Ticktum topped the charts again with a 1:42.185 followed by his team mate Daruvala with a 1:42.619

Day 3- The final day of testing, and no one was messing about! Almost everyone headed out on track with Vips setting a 1:42.224. Although he didn’t stay up there for long as his team mate Lawson was quicker by 0.006s. However none of these finished top at the end of the morning session. It was indeed Marcus Armstrong, with a 1:42.173.

In the afternoon, only four drivers went out as soon as the lights went green, with Zendeli taking first place out of the four. Boschung, who drives for Campos darted round the track with a 1:44.905. However no one could top that in the final session of pre-season testing.

This season is going to be an interesting one in Formula Two, lots of rookies who are very talented but also lots of talented drivers who have been in F2 before. Just over 2 weeks to go till the start of all the action gets underway at Sakhir…

  • FW43B

9 out of 10 cars have now revealed their cars for the 2021 season… Todays was Williams and personally I wasn’t expecting much change, well how wrong was I…

Honestly i’m in shock, it looks so good and so different for them! Lets hope it brings them some luck this year and get some points! The pair driving the FW43B will be George Russell and Nicholas Latifi their third year being partnered together.

However saying this, I do feel like theres a lot more blue on the track this year… Clearly its favoured with the people who designs the cars 😉😂

  • AMR21 & VF21

So after 61 years of not having Aston Martin in Formula One, that has all changed now… Below is the AMR21 challenger for the 2021 season!

We all knew the car was going to be the Aston Martin racing green but I really don’t know what I was expecting, it certainly isn’t whats pictured above (and i mean that in a good way!)😍🙌🏻 The pink as well just makes it pop! I think its been done beautifully.

It will be interesting to see how it does on the track next week in Bahrain, especially with Sebastian Vettel driving it too. Its going to be an interesting year!

Today we had Haas’ car launch, wasn’t really expecting much change for the car but it actually looks alright! I don’t think its the best looking car on the grid but its not the worst F1 livery i’ve ever seen.

It’s the car Schumacher and Mazepin will be driving for the 2021 season… Going to be an interesting battle between these two..

  • W12 & A521

So Mercedes have launched their W12 and all i can say is WOW, I didn’t think they could beat last years livery but they somehow have… Being a big fan of Mercedes and Lewis I was too excited for this one and it really did not disappoint.

The main change is the engine cover, it now has AMG over it all, also having the numbers which aren’t in bold and red unlike last years. They have added some silver back into it, so maybe they are looking to go back to the silver arrows next year👀. They also still have Niki Lauda’s red star on their too as a tribute to him.

Alpine also launched their first F1 car today and I was a bit hesitant of what to expect but the first words out of my mouth was WOW…

It is very different to the cars which have only tweaked their livery a little… but it does look good and definitely will stand out whilst on the track.

Next up is Aston Martin on the 3rd March at 15:00 GMT, keep your eyes peeled for more updates as we go👀

  • C41 and RB16B

So another busy week of car reveals getting ready for the 2021 season, this week we had Alfa Romeo and Red Bulls.

Personally I think that Alfa Romeo looks better this year… there’s not really many changes with cars this year but the tweaks to the cars are looking good so far!

The Red Bull have minor changes to their livery, including taking off Aston Martin signs. Perez and Verstappen have been testing the RB16B at Silverstone after the car got released, however there not giving too much away… I feel like they’ve either got something good and are waiting to show it off or the complete opposite👀 whatever it is I’m looking forward to seeing it on track

Next week we have an easier busier week! We have Mercedes, Alpine, Aston Martin, Haas and Williams. Keep coming back for more updates!

  • The final date

Finally the last date of the car reveals has been set! Haas were the last team to announce when they are revealing their 2021 car and that will be Thursday the 4th March at 8:00 GMT.

Haas have gone with an all new rookie line up for 2021 season, which is Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin. Schumacher won the F2 championship last year and now is being paired with his rival from F2, I wonder how they will work together as team mates? Could be some interesting overtakes coming up this year..

This year Haas are hoping to finish better than 9th in the constructors championship, however they are not starting their 2021 challenger up until Bahrain testing which is in two weeks due to current restrictions of Covid-19. Although it could leave the team with some problems at a shortened down pre season testing…

I am looking forward to seeing a Schumacher back on the track and it will be interesting to see what he can do and what he can bring to the grid.

    Updated Car Reveal

Four car launches done, Six to go… We have a busy week next week of car launches so keep your eyes peeled for more detail on them.

  • Double announcement…

Double announcement from Charouz racing system, their all new 2021 drivers are David Beckmann and Guilherme Samia.

Beckmann new to F2, finished 6th last year in F3 with two wins and five podiums with Trident. The year before he finished 14th, which is a very big improvement. He also competed in the Porsche sprint challenge last year which he finished 13th overall. He debuted for Charouz back at post season testing in Bahrain which clearly left them impressed.

Samia has joint Charouz he left their rivals Campos racing to partner up with Beckmann. The 24 year old is a previous Brazilian F3 champion, with also having some experience in BRDC F3, European Open and Spanish F3.

This personally seems like a good move from the team partnering up someone with experience in F2 and someone completely new to F2. The pair will look to improve on the teams result as they finished 7th overall in the teams championship last year, with a total of 137 points and five podium finishes.

  • MCL35M & AT02

So two cars have been revealed this week which was the McLaren and Alpha Tauri, and not going to lie this gets me so excited for the season!!

The first thing I noticed was the back of the car, it’s a lot more slim than last years. Obviously the colours have stayed the same and mostly all the design has too. I personally think that it looks a lot better this year. I cant wait to see how it will do in pre season testing and the races..

The other car which got revealed is the Alpha Tauri which is going to be driven by Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda. I have to say though I am looking forward to seeing what these two can do together.

    AT02, 2021 car

So the first thing what stood out to me was the colour, its got more blue especially on the front wing and it looks a lot more slick. Another thing was the rims, they have gone for a bold white and I have got to say it looks really good.

Stay tuned for more car reveals and opinions… Next car reveal is Alfa Romeo 22/02/21

  • 23-02-21

So Red Bull is one of the last two teams to announce when they are revealing their 2021 car. The RB16B is set to be shown off on the 23rd February. More details about the up and coming launch on Tuesday are set to be announced soon.

This year is last year that Honda will be powering the Red Bull, however Red Bull announced earlier this week they will be taking over the Honda engines from the 2022 season even though this seasons car is set to have a new Honda power unit.

The RB16B will be driven by Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. Perez has joint the team outside of the Red Bull drivers programme, he has replaced Alex Albon for the 2021 season, as they are looking to take the drivers and constructors championship away from the dominant Mercedes this year.

I personally think Red Bull could bring the fight to Mercedes this year as they have Sergio Perez with them, however I also do think that maybe Verstappen and Perez might clash a few times whilst on track as they are both strong drivers. Also if McLaren do as well as they did last year and especially because they have a Mercedes unit now too i do think it will be even closer between McLaren and Red Bull.

The first Aston Martin Formula One car since 1960 is set to be launched on the third of March.

Previously known as Racing Point, the Silverstone based team have managed to sign four time world champion Sebastian Vettel, he partners along side Lance Stroll. When the car launches their also doing a Q&A.

Aston Martin was in F1 in 1959, and they left after the 1960 season. They are set to launch their car a day after the Mercedes and Alpine are too.

Recently on their social medias they have been posting a lot of teasers for everyone to see, and to be honest I cant wait to see the car reveal.

I really hope this is the break Vettel gets, he deserves to be with a good team which also has a good car. I would love to see him more frequently up in the points, fingers crossed it happens in the 2021 season.

So Alpine have announced they will be launching the car the same day as the reigning champions Mercedes will launch there W12.

The team formerly known as Renault have already announced that their call will be called A521. This year they have two time champion Fernando Alonso joining them along side Esteban Ocon. Alpine announced their winter temporary livery back in January (see below picture)

Recently they have had lots of changes, the main one being that Cyril Abiteboul left the team back in January after following a shake up from the new CEO Luca De Meo who had joined from SEAT last year. The exact management for the team is yet to be decided apart from the racing director which is ex-suzki MotoGP chief Davide Brivio.

I am quite excited to see the A521 be revealed, and also seeing Fernando Alonso back on track after a break away from the sport.

  • 1000 views!🤩🙌🏻

So this isn’t my normal post (obviously) but I couldn’t let a 1000 views go by without doing a little post! Honestly I can’t believe I’ve reached a 1000 views so quickly!! I’m so grateful for every single view I have had ☺️

I started my blog up at the beginning of December 2020, which I know was basically at the end of the season but… it just felt right too, I never would of thought it would do so well so quickly!

I’m so passionate about Formula One, as I said in my first post I’ve grown up watching it and it being passed down the family watching it ! Honestly it brings me so much joy doing this blog and I hope it does too with you reading it…

I do just want to say Thankyou though to everyone who has read, liked, commented and shared my blog, it means the world and so much more❤️

Here’s to the next 1000 and so on!🤩🙌🏻

Ferrari have made an announcement on their social medias when they will do a team launch which will take place on 26th February and then the car launching on the 10th of March.

The power unit will feature in the cars of both Haas and Alfa Romeo, with Ferrari having opted to create a all new unit after a trying season in 2020, which ended up Ferrari taking sixth place in the constructors championship… their worst finish since 1980.

Ferrari also have Carlos Sainz moving over to them this year after leaving McLaren, he is to partner with Charles Leclerc. Sainz made his debut test with Ferrari in the SF71H at the end of January since being signed with the team since last May.

Ferrari didn’t do so well last year as mentioned above it was their worst finish since 1980, in 2019 they finished second in the constructors titles, they haven’t won a constructors since 2008… I would love to see them bring the fight to the Mercedes this year and if they do it will be an interesting year for sure.

Gianluca Petecof has announced he will partner with Ralph Boschung at Campos racing. The 18 year old has scored 5 poles, 4 wins, and 14 podiums on his way to the title which got him promoted to Campos directly into Formula Two. Petecof graduated to single seats in 2018 which he then competed in Italian and ADAC Formula Four. He then went onto win the Italian F4 in the following season. Petecof announced early February that he wouldn’t carry his collaboration with the Ferrari Drivers Academy in 2021.

Christian Lundgaard stays at Art Grand Prix racing team for the 2021 season. The Alpine junior first teamed up with ART in the 2019 Formula Three Championship, which he finished sixth which included one win and two podiums. The team then went on to award him with a promotion into F2 and he impressed in his rookie campaign which he finished 7th overall with two wins and six podiums. Son of the 2000 European Rally Champion Henrik Lundgaard first joined the Alpine academy back in 2017. I definitely think that Christian is going to go far, i am looking forward to see what he does in another season of F2.

Another Alpine academy driver has been announced and that is Guanyu Zhou and he will be racing for UNI-Virtuosi Racing for a third season, he will be pairing up with Felipe Drugovich for the 2021 season. He got awarded the Anthoine Hubert Award for top rookie in 2019 after he finished the season in seventh place, and since then he improved by finishing sixth in the 2020 season. As well as being in the Alpine academy he served being the F1’s official test driver in 2020 through his position with Renault, he has had the luxury of driving the 2017,2018 and 2020 cars. It seems like Zhou has a lot of experience and confidence in F1,F2 and Alpine so i definitely think this another to watch out for.

  • Hamilton Signs

And…. Finally the last seat is filled, Hamilton has signed for a seat at the dominant Mercedes team and who his been with since 2013, this comes after Mercedes team principal and CEO Toto Wolff announced he has extended his contract with them for a further 3 years.

The 7 time world champion will be aiming for his 8th world title this year hopefully beating Michael Schumacher’s 7 and making history even more, Hamilton will be setting the bench mark for the current f1 drivers and future f1 drivers, as he has now passed lots of Michael’s records and maybe one day someone might pass Hamilton’s.

Lewis has shown how talented he is in the past 13 years in Formula One, and also back in the carting days working his way up. He wanted to be the best he possibly could and make his family proud as they are the ones who helped his career including his dad working 3 jobs when he was younger to make it happen.

Last year Lewis used his platform to support BLM and have more diversity throughout the sport. He also does lots to show his fans/ social media followers what is going on in the world including what needs to be done to help with issues surrounding animals. With this link being one of them, https://www.instagram.com/p/CH8OJ1gsAei/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Lewis also got onto the Queen’s new year honour list after being backed by PM Boris Johnson and is going to be knighted and will now be Sir Lewis, he becomes the fourth F1 driver to be knighted after two fellow Britons, Sir Stirling Moss and Sir Jackie Stewart, and also Australia’s Sir Jack Brabham.

Silverstone have renamed their pit straights on the international circuit to Hamilton Straight, this comes after Lewis won his 7th world title. The British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC) that owns Silverstone announced it at the Abu Dhabi Finale in December 2020. It’s the first time in Silverstone’s history that part of the circuit has been named after an individual. David Coulthard was the one to tell the 35 year old, with Coulthard saying “Lewis has become a huge part of this history and the directors of the Club and I felt there was no better way to mark this than to rename the iconic pits straight in recognition of his record-breaking achievements.”

I’m interested in seeing how this season plays out for him as it is the longest season ever in F1 and personally I want to see him win his 8th world championship and possibly his 9th to and make history once again.

  • Reverse grid? Sprint race?

So lately, there has been lots of talk about how F1 should change and what can make it more exciting, the two main ideas which have been spoke about a lot recently are reverse grid and a sprint race.

Firstly i have so many pros and cons of both but I do get why people are asking for it to be more exciting but then again why fix something thats not broken? There is still plenty of ‘drama’ on track, its just the fact that certain tracks don’t have the facilities for the drama as it could be quite dangerous if there was any…

So reverse grid has recently been shut down as an option to make F1 more exciting, last year it went to the teams however it failed to get support of all the teams in particular the dominant Mercedes. Personally it would off been good to see but also it is very predictable on some tracks where it is easy to over take it would be clear who would finish top three.

The next idea is sprint race which is very much still a contender, i am still 50/50 on this I think this could be a good idea and give everyone a fair chance – but will it then be the same results each time? How would F2 drivers feel about it. Some of the drivers who come up to F1 have done 2 years at formula two and then they are going to have basically the same weekends as they did. What would then make F1 different from the rest? I am so mixed opinioned abut this, I don’t think i will really know how i feel until they have one and to see how it goes.

Formula Ones new President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said they are trying to get the sprint race into the 2021 as an experiment and that there are discussions with the teams already on going. Also he said that he was also keen to find a way to give rookies more seat time in F1 machinery, especially because of the testing which has been shortened down. Now this I agree with I do think they need more time as a rookie to practice.

I am quite intrigued on what you guys think about a sprint race in Formula One, so I have made a poll to see your answers :)

The FW43B is set to have the covers taken off on 5th of March a week before pre season testing, currently Williams are the fifth team to announce their date.

Williams cars have all had the ‘FW’ after Sir Frank Williams. Frank and Claire (his daughter) both left the team last year after selling it to an investment firm Dorilton Capital. It is nice to see the new owners are happy to keep up the links to the teams history.

They have managed to keep Russell and Latifi as their drivers for the 2021 season however currently there’s lots of fans of George Russell wanting him to take a seat at Mercedes in the future. Personally I can’t wait see George in a better car, we all saw his performance at Sakhir…

Last season the car was FW43, however this years charger is an evolution of it, as all the teams will carry over lots of last years parts as its a part of cost saving measures to help cope with Covid-19 pandemic which explains why they have name it the FW43B.

Williams just haven’t got new owners they also have their old driver Jenson Button rejoining the team as senior advisor, hopefully this gets Williams back to where they use to be. In the last three years they have finished last in the constructors championship, let’s see if they make a comeback.

So we now have car launch dates for half the gird, this is definitely getting exciting and it means we are getting that little bit closer to testing and the first race of this season.

Alpha Tauri has announced the date of when their car AT02 will be revealed… they will be the second team to show their car off, four days after McLaren. Alpha Tauri are formerly known as Toro Rosso up until last year.

Pierre Gasly is once again driving for them this year, last year he managed to get a win which ended up him finishing 10th overall in the season.

He is joined this year by F1 newcomer Yuki Tsunoda, Yuki has been preparing for the 2021 season by doing test runs in the old Alpha Tauri’s, getting in as much mileage as possible before the shortened down pre season testing in March.

Tsunoda replaced Danil Kyvat who did not manage to secure another seat. Alpha Tauri was pretty set on having Yuki Tsunoda and they were only going to look else where if he didn’t manage to get his super license.

I am looking forward to see what Yuki can do this year, he is certainly one to watch in the future.

The 2nd of March is the date Mercedes will reveal their car for the 2021 season. They are the third team to announce when their car will be revealed.

The world champions car will be called the W12, they showed a little snippet of the W12 the other day on Instagram giving everyone a bit of a teaser of whats to come.

In 2020 they changed the silver arrows to black to make a stand for racism, discrimination and also to pledge their diversity of their team, Lewis also made an End Racism campaign all throughout the F1 2020 season and the other drivers joined in by wearing t-shirts stating it and also taking the knee before the start of the race.

All the Mercedes and Lewis Hamiltons fans are patiently waiting for them to announce Lewis as you may have seen in the comments of Mercedes social media pages. The 7 time champion is yet to sign a deal after his contract finished at the end of last years season.

  • 2021 Records

So with the 2021 season starting in just under 8 weeks, it is a good time to look at the records which could be broken this year.

First of all the most obvious one would be Lewis Hamiltons 8th World Championship title. He equaled Michael Schumacher’s seven world championships last year and will more than likely go on to doing one better this year. Theres no real regulation changes this year, so there should be no reason why Hamilton and Mercedes will not dominate the season once again.

There are also two more records which have never been seen before for Lewis Hamilton this year. He is just two poles away from becoming the first man in history to record 100 Poles, as well as he is five wins away will ensure Hamilton becomes the first driver to take a century of Grand Prix wins. You would not want to bet against Hamilton not achieving these both in 2021. 2010 and 2011 are the only seasons in which he has failed to take at least two pole positions so far in his career, but since then he has won at least nine races in every season since 2014!

2020 was also the year Mercedes went on to win seven consecutive Constructors championship, that was a new record for most successive title wins for a team. If they win an eighth which is looking very likely there will be a new record for the most successive seasons in which an engine manufacturer has won. The current record for most successive wins for an engine manufacturer in Constructors championship is almost fifty years old, Ford Cosworth powered seven consecutive title wins between 1968 to 1974- the teams were Lotus, Tyrell and also McLaren during them years.

Fernando Alonso returning to F1 for 2021 with Alpine was a pretty big announcement last year, his long awaited return comes almost seven years since he took his last Grand Prix win in 2013 at the Spanish Grand Prix. If he wins during the 2021 season there will be a new record for the longest gap between two race victories, the current record is six years, six months and twenty eight days which is held by Riccardo Patrese. 2020 we had a few surprise wins, so anything can be possible in 2021, and if Alonso is right place at the right time I wouldn’t be too surprised to see him claim a 33rd Victory this season.

Lewis’ coronavirus infection led him to be unable to eclipse Michael Schumacher’s record of most laps led by the smallest of margins. Hamilton has led 5,099 laps in his career so far which is just twelve short of Michael Schumacher’s record of 5’111. Schumacher has held the record since overtaking Aryton Senna’s tally of 2,931 laps led. Between Schumacher and Hamilton they have led over 15% if all racing laps in F1 history.

And finally, Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen could set a new record for being the trio to have finished on the podium the most times together. The record currently belongs to 7 time champion Lewis Hamilton, one time champion Nico Rosberg and four time champion Sebastian Vettel, they shared the podium on fourteen occasions. Hamilton, Bottas and Verstappen only need one more time to equal that tally, in 2020 the trio finished in top three together on eight occasions alone in 2020.

Art Grand Prix has announced that Théo Pourchaire will race for them in Formula 2, the frenchman was a surprise for the other formula three drivers last year as he became the champions youngest ever race winner at the red bull ring in round 2, before he challenged the others for the title, he unfortunately missed out of the title by just 3 points. At the end of the season he drove with ART at post season testing in Bahrain. It seems like Theo will be gunning for the top and prove that he may be young but he is very good at was he does, he is definitely one to keep an eye on in the future.

Carlin have signed up Ticktum for his second year in F2 after leaving DAMS. After finishing 11th last year with a race win and three podiums. He made his debut for them in formula two back when the three day post season testing was taking place which is where he impressed them to get the drive for 2021. Dan is a two time winner of Macau Grand Prix and also finished as the runner up in the European F3 in 2018.

Roy Nissany joins Marcus Armstrong at DAMS for the 2021 season. Nissany switches from Trident to DAMS after finishing 19th last season scoring only 5 points… He has a lot of experience in F1 as he is the Williams test driver, he took part in 3 free practice sessions last year for the team and also the young drivers test in Abu Dhabi.

14 spaces gone only 8 more to go, it will be interesting to see who else is going to be announced.

  • 15-02-21

15th February at 19:00 GMT is the date and time McLaren will be releasing their new MCL35M for 2021. They are the second team to announce when they are unveiling their cars, they launch a week before Alfa Romeo’s car launch.

McLaren have lots of changes this year including the new engines which are supplied by Mercedes, they fired the car up on the 27th January to show their social media followers a little teaser of whats to come. McLaren are the only team to change engine supplies in 2021, the MCL35M is an evolution of 2020’s competitive car after they finished third in the constructors championship.

Daniel Riccardo will be joining Lando Norris for the 2021 season and 2022 too. The pair will both be gunning for the podiums and even possibly wins. I’m very much so looking forward to this new pairing as it will be exciting to see how they both adapt to each other as team mates.

McLaren posted this onto Instagram on 28/01/2021
