  • Marti & Chambers to drive for Andretti

Andretti Formula E has announced that Chloe Chambers and Nerea Marti will represent the team in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship’s Women Test in Valencia.

Making her Formula E debut in the first-ever Women’s Test hosted by an FIA World Championship, Chambers brings an extensive racing resume to the Indianapolis-based Andretti lineup that includes a win and three podiums with two rounds remaining in her first season of F1 Academy.

Chambers started in karting at the age of eight, rising through the karting ranks over the next 10 years before moving into the Formula 4 United States Championship in 2021.
The 2022 season saw her compete in W Series Championship before she went on to dominate the 2023 Porsche Sprint Challenge North America, winning eight of 12 races and making history as the first woman to win a race and claim pole position in the Formula Regional Oceania Championship.

Rounding out Andretti Formula E’s testing lineup, Marti will take her first Formula E laps on her hometown track in Valencia.
The Spanish driver moved up through the competitive karting ranks on her family’s track before moving into the Spanish F4 Championship in 2019.

The 2021 season saw Marti claim the title of highest-ranking rookie in the W Series Championship, finishing fourth overall and gaining an FIA Formula 3 test day as her prize.
Currently competing, in her second F1 Academy season, the 22 year old has scored one win and nine podium and currently sits fifth in the standings.

I’m thrilled to be joining the Andretti Formula E team in Valencia. It will be different for me, being my first experience in electric racing, but I’m excited to take on this new challenge and expand my horizons. The Andretti Formula E team has had great success in Formula E, and I’m glad to be learning from some of the best! As an American, it’s especially exciting to be working with such an iconic name in racing. Thank you to F1 Academy, A14 Management and Monoflo International for enabling this opportunity. I’ll be putting 100% into learning all I can during the test.
    Chambers on the news.

Getting behind the wheel of a Formula E car is an incredible opportunity. Formula E represents the future of racing, and I’m going to soak up every moment and learn as much as I can from the experience. The Series is all about innovation and pushing boundaries, and as a female driver, it’s what I’ve been striving for throughout my career, so I’m thrilled to be part of it. It’s very special that the test is taking place in Valencia, my hometown. Circuit Ricardo Tormo is where I got my first taste of racing, so I have some very special memories there. I’m focused on making the most of every lap and showing the Andretti Formula E team what I can do. I feel humbled by Andretti’s rich history, passion and dedication across all the series they compete in, and I couldn’t have dreamed of wearing better colours. I’m ready to give it everything I’ve got.
    Marti on the news.

We are super excited to announce both Chloe and Nerea as the Andretti drivers for the all-women test in Valencia. As an organization, we have been leaders in promoting women in motorsport, fielding multiple drivers over the years across our varied programs, and being the only Formula E team to run a woman driver for a full season with Simona de Silvestro in Season 2. Both Chloe and Nerea have shown their pedigree in F1 Academy with regular visits to the podium, and we are eager to see how they get on in the Andretti Porsche 99X Electric Formula E car. I’m sure they will be following closely on the progress that Jake and Nico make throughout the week to learn as much as they can before they take to the track.
    Roger Griffifths, Team Principal.

  • Trident sign Noah Stromsted

Trident have announced that Noah Stromsted will be driving in FIA Formula 3 next season – which is their second confirmed signing for the 2025 season.

Stromsted stepped up to single seater racing in 2021 making an instant impact by finishing second in the F4 Danish Championship as a rookie thanks to his nine wins in 11 races.

The 17 year old then competed in six races of the 2022 Spanish F4 Championship, taking pole position once before returning for a full season in 2023, where he ended up seventh in the standings with three podiums.

This year, Stromsted has been competing in the Formula Regional European Championship and he is currently sixth in the standings having achieved one pole position and four podiums.

The Dane also has previous experience in F3, as he was a final round substitute for Campos Racing this year at Monza, taking part in both Sprint and Feature races.

I am very happy to join Trident for my debut season in the 2025 FIA Formula 3. Their success the past years speaks for itself, I will work very hard to be competitive since the beginning of the season and help the team as much as possible with the development of the new car. I would like to thank Trident for their trust and giving me this opportunity, and of course my sponsors, family, coach and management for making this happen.
    Stromsted on the news.

We are extremely happy to announce Noah Strømsted in our line-up for the 2025 season. We had the opportunity to evaluate the Danish driver both on our test car and on our simulator and we immediately had excellent feedback. Despite being a very young driver, he is already very mature from our point of view. Noah has been the best rookie in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine in 2024. He is a young guy, with great potential and with a great margin for growth. We are really proud to have him on board our team competing in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, and we are convinced that he will be able to be among the key players of the category in his rookie season.
    Giacomo Ricci, Trident Team Manager.

  • RW 19 – Tyre Selection

Formula 1 is back and this year’s United States Grand Prix is the first leg of an all-American triple-header also sees changes to the track at COTA as most of it has been resurfaced.

The abrasiveness of the track could therefore have changed since last year, given that a new layer of bitumen is usually smoother than an old track surface.

The compounds chosen are the same as those used for the past two editions of the Austin round which are, C2 (Hard), C3 (Medium), C4 (Soft).

In terms of the forces exerted on the tyres, the loads at COTA are fairly evenly distributed between the front and rear axles, and are more lateral that vertical.
Usually, degradation is thermal and is therefore linked to the ambient temperature which in Texas in October can fluctuate considerably from one day to the next.

In terms of strategy, we will need to wait and see how the new surface may affect it. But with Saturday’s Sprint that should provide plenty of useful data.
In last year’s short race, the Medium was chosen by the majority of drivers, although some risked the soft.

Normally a two stop has always been the quickest here, especially as a one-stop involves a lot of careful degradation management.

  • McLaren reveal Austin livery

McLaren are the third Formula 1 team to present a special livery for the United States Grand Prix weekend, following on from reveals by fellow teams Haas and Alpine.

In collaboration with team partner Google, McLaren have created a second edition of their striking chrome-inspired livery, which was first re-imagined at Silverstone last year.

Featuring in their ‘Chrome Shines Again’ campaign, the livery is a nod to some of McLaren’s former cars, including a modern twist to represent the team’s enduring legacy, with the enhanced chrome representing the two brands’ pursuit of innovative design.

In addition to Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri’s cars, touches of chrome will be present on their race suits for this weekend.

McLaren approach the 19th race weekend with a 41 point lead over Red Bull in the constructors’ standings, while Norris is 52 points behind Max Verstappen as they battle for the drivers’ championship heats up.

  • Alpine present Indiana Jones livery

Alpine have joined Haas in showing off a special car livery for the United States Grand Prix weekend in Austin, with their striking design celebrating the return of legendary adventure character Indiana Jones in an upcoming video game.

Via a collaboration with team partner Xbox, Alpine are building up to the release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle – which is scheduled for Spring 2025 – with a ‘sunset orange’ colour scheme and themed driver suits inspired by the franchise logo.

Diving into the car livery, it features an ancient map and red travel routes as showcased in the iconic film series, with the title of the game also emblazoned on the vehicle, while the suits include a world map with golden notes.

This is not the first time that Alpine have produced a film-inspired livery and race suits in 2024, with Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon sporting another bold look inspired by the Deadpool & Wolverine movie at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Working with the Xbox team to bring alive the incredible Indiana Jones and the Great Circle livery for the United States Grand Prix has been fantastic. The new look will be right at home in the Austin setting this weekend.
    Oliver Oakes, Alpine Team Boss.

  • Haas to run special livery for home race

Haas have revealed a special car livery for the United States Grand Prix weekend at the Circuit of the Americas, celebrating their second of three of home races during the 2024 season.

Complementing the usual black, red and white colour scheme are some additional blue highlights and features such as white and black stars – a nod to the United States flag.

Haas have raced under the American flag since debuting in 2016, with their headquarters located in Kannapolis, North Carolina, alongside a European base in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

The team have not only made a change to the liveries on Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen’s cars, though, with a range of upgrades set to be unleashed at the Austin round as the team aim to overhaul RB for sixth in the constructors’ standings.

Haas have 31 points to their name so far ahead of the final six rounds, they are only three points away from RB.

In Austin we’re bringing our main update for the final part of the season which will mainly involve another step of development in the floor and bodywork. The target, as always, will be to improve aero load in order to make the car faster. It’s difficult to be making a big step in lap time, so we’re speaking about small numbers, but in the tight midfield fight everything is an important step, and we hope to deliver. This is a development and further evolution of our package, not something new, although the car will look a bit different. We’re fighting for P6 and that’s a very nice feeling. We really need to put everything in we can to achieve that because it would be amazing for everyone at this team who’s put so much work into making this season a success.
    Technical Director, Andrea De Zordo.

  • Badoer joins PREMA & McLaren development

PREMA Racing have announced the signing of Brando Badoer for the 2025 FIA Formula 3 season with the Italian also joining McLaren as a full-time member of their Driver Development programme.

Badoer will graduate to F3 after a strong 2024 campaign in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine where he is currently fifth in the standings with seven podiums.

Not only that, he finished sixth in the 2023 editions of the Formula 4 UAE, Italian F4 and Euro 4 Championships, achieving several podiums across the three categories.

The 18 year old will now step up to Formula 3 with PREMA with the backing on McLaren as he is their recently signed member of the Development Programme, Badoer is excited for what is to come.

I’m really happy to announce that I will be racing with PREMA in the 2025 FIA Formula 3 Championship. Working with all the people here is special, the chemistry is excellent and it makes the work really enjoyable on and off the track. We have had two positive seasons together and I’m looking forward to building on that and I’m sure we will have a good year.
    Badoer on the news.

Brando is a very interesting prospect, and we are delighted to give him an opportunity for 2025. We have kept an eye on him because we noticed his potential from F4 to FRECA, and we saw him make an impressive step this season. Formula 3 will be challenging, as it usually is, but he has the right attitude to quickly gel with the team and series
PREMA Racing Team Principal, Rene Rosin.

We’ve kept a close eye on him over the past year and have been impressed with his performances as a rookie in the competitive Formula Regional championship, so it made sense to exercise our option and bring him into the programme full-time. We look forward to seeing him racing in papaya and supporting his development as he moves to compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship with Prema Racing.
Stephanie Carlin, Director of F1 Business at McLaren.

  • Tasanapol moves to Campos for 2025

Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak is set to return for a second campaign in FIA Formula 3, making the move to Campos Racing for the 2025 season.

The Thai driver spent his rookie year with AIX Racing where he achieved one podium with a second place finish at the Budapest Sprint Race before ending up P24 in the Drivers’ Championship.

It wont be the first time Inthraphuvasak and Campos have linked up, as they have history together with the 18 year old raced for them in 2023 Eurocup-3 season.
He managed to grab two pole positions and four podiums on his way to finishing sixth in the standings.

I’m delighted to join Campos racing for the F3 season in 2025. Having been with the team in the past, I’m sure we will work very well together for this upcoming season. It will be my second year in Formula 3 so I will try to use all the experience gathered to deliver the results and I am confident with the team I have behind me that we will have a successful year together. I cant wait to start working with the team and begin the preparations for next year. I would like to thank everyone that has made this possible!
    Inthraphuvasak on the news.

I want to welcome Tasanapol back to Campos Racing as we reunite, having already worked together in the past. He is a great driver, fast and consistently improving race by race. 2025 is going to be a very demanding year with the new single-seater, but we are building a team of drivers with the experience and talent needed to achieve the results we have set for ourselves.
    Adrian Campos Jr, Team Principal.

  • Rodin Motorsport confirm Louis Sharp for 2025

Rodin Motorsport have announced their first driver for the 2025 campaign, that Louis Sharp will step up to FIA Formula 3 with the team.

Sharp and Rodin share a strong history of success together which started back in 2022, when he finished fourth in the British F4 Championship after scoring 12 podium finishes including two victories.

He then went on to continue with them in 2023, this time winning the British F4 Championship thanks to four pole positions, six victories and an additional eight podiums!

Their partnership was once again successful this year with Sharp winning the GB3 Championship, achieving five victories and a further five podiums on his way to winning another title.

I’m obviously excited to be making the next step up to FIA Formula 3 – even more so as I’m back with Rodin Motorsport which has been such an important factor in all my successes to date. Though I’m still coming to terms with what I’ve achieved winning back-to-back titles, I’m already starting to concentrate on what’s ahead. I’m really looking forward to be racing alongside Grands Prix in 2025 and will do everything I can to maintain my current momentum. I’m now looking forward to starting my F3 preparations later this month in Spain and confident both the team and I will be ready when the lights go out in Australia.
Sharp on the news moving up.

It is great to have Louis join our Formula 3 effort for 2025, especially off the back of a dominant performance in GB3. Having the new chassis will provide a level playing field for the rookies and Louis has shown throughout his British F4 and GB3 campaigns how quickly he adapts to new cars and tracks. We are really looking forward to working with Louis once again.
Sam Waple, Rodin Motorsport Team Manager.

  • Chloe Chambers teams up with Red Bull Ford for 2025

Chloe Chambers has become the first driver announced for the 2025 season, with the American driver joining the Red Bull Ford Academy Programme for her sophomore F1 Academy next year.

Chambers currently sits fourth in the Drivers’ Standings, driving for Haas operated by Campos Racing. The 20 year old scored her maiden win in Barcelona Race 2 alongside two further podium finishes, with only two rounds remaining.

The Red Bull Ford Academy programme team took the opportunity to thank current driver Emely De Heus for her commitment and hard work over the season, with the Dutch driver set to depart F1 Academy at the conclusion of her maximum two-season stint, as per the series’ regulations.

I am thrilled to be driving for the Red Bull Ford Academy Programme for the upcoming 2025 season. As an American driver, it is an honour to team up with an iconic American automotive company like Ford. It is a privilege to be partnering with the Red Bull Ford Academy Programme to continue improving female representation in the sport, and I am grateful for the support to achieve my own career goals in motorsport. I am excited to take part in the Ford Mustang Challenge this week and to have more opportunities to race outside of my role in F1 ACADEMY. My focus for the rest of the year remains on delivering performance with Haas, but I’m looking forward to the next chapter in 2025 with the Red Bull Ford Academy Programme.
    Chambers on the news.

Continuing our partnership with Ford as a title sponsor of the Red Bull Academy Programme is hugely exciting and further cements their commitment to female participation in motorsports. Everyone at the Team is looking forward to welcoming Chloe to the Red Bull family where she is a key part of our line-up for the 2025 F1 ACADEMY season. Welcoming an American driver that has previously been linked to Ford, marks an exciting progression in our partnership with Ford Performance. Red Bull and Ford share common values and are united in providing more opportunities for young and emerging talent in motorsports, and we can’t wait to see Chloe hit the track in Red Bull Ford colours in 2025.
Christian Horner, CEO & Team Principal of Red Bull Racing.

Chloe is not only a real racing talent but also has the ability to race in different series and to see her lining up in the Mustang Challenge in our Dark Horse R is really cool. To have an American driver representing an iconic American brand is the perfect scenario for us and we are excited for all that 2025 will hold. This partnership is also part of a much larger relationship that we now enjoy with Red Bull across many race series and our partnership is getting stronger all the time.
Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Performance Motorsport.

  • Formula E dedicates pre-season test for women

Formula E has announced a world-first for an FIA Championship in holding a dedicated test session for women racing drivers in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

The test will be taking place on Thursday 7th November at Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia.

The first of its kind test in the all-electric championship provides elite women racing drivers the opportunity to driver the new for Season 11 Gen3 Evo car, which is capable 0-60mph in just 1.82 seconds.

The car will also be tested during the same week by the 11 world-class race teams and 22 drivers currently competing in the series.

Each of the race teams in the championship will be required to field at least one woman driver for the half-day test, but is encouraged to field two, who will all drive in the current-season cars.

With all the women on track at the same time, the session creates a tangible platform for a wide pool of elite drivers who wouldn’t get otherwise an opportunity to drive machinery at this level.

The test aims to provide the women not only with a destination but also a pathway to develop their careers and skills using current technology at its full potential.

While at the Valencia track, drivers will take part in multiple media opportunities, including press conferences, briefings, interviews and capturing content for broadcast and social media on behalf of Formula E and their respective teams.

We know there isn’t a simple solution for greater diversity in motorsport. If we’re going to truly give women equality, opportunity and visibility in our series, however, conditions for all need to be the same to aid their development and test themselves against those already on the starting grid. Unlike other series where women drivers have to use old or restricted machinery, they’ll be using the state-of-the-art GEN3 Evo car that accelerates 30% faster than an F1 car, just as our Championship drivers do. We also recognise that one test will not solve the longstanding issue, but we have to start somewhere, knowing there is a long way to go and making sure we’re making proactive, consistent steps that continue to make forward progress. As a motorsport with an almost-equal split of male and female fans, as well within Formula E including my Exec and Director teams, we believe it’s only right that our drivers and wider ecosystem is representative of those that follow and support the sport.
Jeff Dodds, CEO at Formula E.

  • Ugo Ugochukwu signs with Prema for 2025

PREMA Racing have confirmed that Ugo Ugochukwu is set to make the step up to FIA Formula 3 with the Italian team next season – which is their first driver signing for the 2025 season.

After a trophy-laden karting career, the McLaren Driver Development programme member graduated to single seater racing in 2022, going on to finish third in the British F4 Championship.

Ugochukwu then had a successful 2023 with PREMA, winning the Euro 4 Championship while he also finished second in Italian F4 and third in the Formula 4 UAE Championships.

He then went on to race with PREMA again this year in the Formula Regional European Championship where he has achieved a podium and numerous points finishes.

Following the announcement, Ugochukwu, who previously took part at all three 2023 post-season tests with Rodin Motorsport, is now looking forward to making the step-up full time.

    Ugochukwu on the news.

We enjoyed working with Ugo in the last two years from Formula 4 to Formula Regional, and we think he has great potential. We are convinced that he will be a great fit for FIA Formula 3 next year in terms of approach and driving style. We will soon start preparations and we look forward to helping him make a smooth and successful transition to the new series.
Rene Rosin, PREMA Racing Team Principal.

  • Boya sticks with Campos for 2025

Campos Racing have confirmed Mari Boya as their first driver for the 2025 FIA Formula 3 season.
The Spaniard will remain with the team for what will be his third campaign in the Championship.

Boya earned his maiden F3 victory this year, achieving P1 on home soil in the Barcelona Sprint Race. He wound up 15th in the Drivers’ Championship, earning nine top 10 finishes across the season.

Prior to his most recent season with Campos, Boya entered FIA F3 in 2023 with MP Motorsport, where he achieved five top 10 finishes and a podium in his rookie campaign.

Looking ahead to next year, Boya said he was very happy to be continuing with Campos Racing in 2025, adding that he was confident after spending a season with the team.

Therefore, it will be crucial to have talented and experienced drivers who can help understand and develop the car to achieve results as quickly as possible. We are confident it will be a great season together and we will work towards many more victories with the new racing car.
    Adrian Campos Jr, Team Principal.

  • Renault cancel plans to build Alpine works engine

Renault have confirmed the cancellation of their plans to supply engines for the 2026 Formula 1 season and beyond.

The French manufacturer announced that its engine factory at Viry-Chatillon would be transformed into an “engineering centre of excellence” by the end of 2024.

The decision comes ahead of the introduction of new engine regulations to F1 in 2026, with the Renault Group-owned Alpine team is now expected to agree a deal to have their power units supplied by Mercedes.

This announcement follows months of speculation and unrest at the company, which saw Viry staff members travel to the Italian Grand Prix during the summer to protest then-developing plans to close the factory.

Alpine’s F1 operations are currently split across two factories, the engine-focused division in France and the chassis focused is in the UK.

Alpine will continue running their current Renault engine for the remainder of this season and all of 2025.

The engine’s poor performance has been a factor in the team’s struggles this season, with the team sitting ninth out of 10 in the Constructors’ Championship with just six rounds remaining.

As a result of the consultation process with the employee representatives, during which discussions were constructive and an independent assessment was conducted, Alpine’s management confirms its project to transform the site into a centre of engineering and high-tech excellence by late 2024. Formula 1 activities at Viry, excluding the development of a new engine, will continue until the end of the 2025 season. Each employee affected by this transformation project will be proposed a new position within Alpine Hypertech.
    The statement.

  • Wurz switches to Trident for 2025

Trident have announced their first driver signing for the 2025 season with Charlie Wurz set to join the Italian outfit ahead of his second campaign in FIA Formula 3.

Wurz spent his rookie F3 campaign with Jenzer Motorsport, scoring a season high P5 in Melbourne Feature Race and finishing 22nd overall in the standings.

Prior to that, the 18 year old completed several title-winning campaigns, earning the 2022 Formula 3 UAE Championship and the 2024 Formula Regional Oceania Championship.

Speaking following the announcement of his move to Trident, Wurz spoke of his excitement at joining the title winning team.

I am really happy to have signed with Trident and to race with the team that has won the last two FIA Formula 3 Championships in 2025. The team’s track record could not be more prestigious. I’ve already developed a great chemistry with the team, as we share the same drive and desire to win. I know I have a lot to learn from them. I am already training for next year and cannot wait to get started.
    Wurz on the news.

We are thrilled to announce that Austrian driver Charlie Wurz is joining the Trident Motorsport family. Charlie is an intelligent and fast driver. As he embarks on his second year in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, we are confident that he will perform exceptionally well in our colours. We look forward to working with him during the post-season tests.
    Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager.

  • Lawson to replace Ricciardo for remainder of season

New Zealander Liam Lawson will be replacing Daniel Ricciardo at RB alongside Yuki Tsunoda for the remainder of the season.

Red Bull and RB confirmed Ricciardo would be leaving the team and expressed their gratitude for his efforts across two stints with the Red Bull family.

Ricciardo returned to a Formula 1 race seat last year in Hungary with AlphaTauri and stayed on when they became RB for this season.
Ricciardo scored points on five occasions, including a superb fourth in the Sprint in Miami, and sits 14th in the drivers’ standings, 10 points behind teammate Yuki Tsunoda.

However, his form hasn’t been enough to convince the Red Bull family to keep him on. It remains unclear what the future holds for Ricciardo but it’s very unlikely to involve a race seat on the 2025 Formula 1 grid.

RB then announced Lawson would step up from his reserve role, which he’s held since 2022 starting with the upcoming United States Grand Prix in Austin.

Lawson first made his Grand Prix debut at Zandvoort last year as a super sub for injured Ricciardo.
The 22 year old delivered an impressive set of results across a five race period, including his first points with ninth at the Singapore Grand Prix.

Everyone here at VCARB would like to thank Daniel for his hard work across the last two seasons with us. He has brought a lot of experience and talent to the Team with a fantastic attitude, which has helped everyone to develop and foster a tight team spirit. Daniel has been a true gentleman both on and off the track and never without that smile. He will be missed, but will always hold a special place within the Red Bull family. I’d also like to take this opportunity to welcome Liam. He already knows the Team well. He drove for us last season, and coped well under difficult circumstances, so it’ll be a natural transition. It’s great to see young talent from within the Red Bull family make the next step. We’re looking forward to getting our heads down and focusing on the rest of the season together.
    Laurent Mekies on the news.

In early November, all teams will gather in Valencia, Spain for the only official test sessions.

We’re delighted to welcome Zane to the team for the upcoming Formula E season, completing our driver pairing as one of the most exciting on next season’s grid. Zane is a hugely talented young driver with an abundance of speed and potential and, alongside Lucas, we have an ideal combination of youth and experience. Zane has demonstrated his abilities in a variety of junior categories and proven himself as a race winner, and we’re looking forward to seeing him get behind the wheel in testing, and then at round one in São Paulo.
Till Bechtolsheimer, Chairman of Lola Cars.

We are very much looking forward to having Zane as part of the team for Season 11, and he has already brought a breath of fresh air during our first days working together. Giving young talent a chance and supporting them has been a strong tradition at ABT for many decades and that’s why it was clear to us that we would also follow this path in Formula E.
    ABT CEO, Thomas Biermaier.

I am delighted to be part of the Lola Yamaha ABT team and looking forward to this exciting challenge. Although I already know the championship well, this is a completely new chapter for me, so working with such an experienced team, and alongside such a successful driver, is the perfect next step. I’ve followed and admired Lucas’s battles over the past seasons, including when he became champion. I’m sure that I will learn a lot from him and together we will push both ourselves and the development of the car forward.

  • McLaren sign Will Courtenay from Red Bull

McLaren have announced the signing of Red Bull’s Head of Strategy, Will Courtenay as their new Sporting Director.

Courtenay will be leaving Red Bull after two decades with the team, having joined them when they raced as Jaguar before the operation was brought by the energy drinks firm.

His signing is part of McLaren’s strengthening of their senior leadership team, with Courtenay set to report into Racing Director Randeep Singh.

But McLaren will have to wait a little under two years for Courtenay to join, though with Red Bull saying he “continues to be part of their team seeing out his contract until mid-2026”.

Courtenay is the third senior member of staff to choose to leave Red Bull in the last six months.
Design guru Adrian Newey is set to leave to become Managing Technical Partner at Aston Martin while Sporting Director Jonathan Wheatley is to become Team Principal at Audi next season.

Red Bull has since restructured the team following Wheatley’s departure, with a series of changes headlined by Verstappen’s race engineer Giapiero Lambiase becoming Head of Racing.

Courtenay will now team up with former Red Bull colleague Rob Marshall at McLaren, with Marshall as chief designer.

We are delighted to welcome Will to McLaren. His experience, professionalism and passion for motorsport make him the ideal candidate to lead our F1 sporting function. We are now entering a key phase in our journey as a team, and we are confident that he will be a great addition to our strong leadership team as we strive to continue challenging for wins and championships.

  • Envision stick with Buemi & Frijns

Envision Racing are pleased to confirm an unchanged driver line-up for Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Sebastien Buemi and Robin Frijns will continue with the team for Season 11.

After a campaign of highs and lows, both Buemi and Frijns ended Season 10 in extremely positive fashion – bringing home three podiums across the final four races.

Buemi and Frijns are among the most experienced drivers in Formula E, having competed in 229 races in the championship, with 99 of those while driving for Envision.

The team is one of the most successful in the sport, having accumulated more podium finishes (53) and points (1723) through 10 seasons than any other competitor.

In the closing stages of Season 10, Frijns secured a double podium weekend in Portland, where he brought home two second place finishes.
This was then followed by teammate Buemi clinching the final step of the podium in London.
The team finished sixth in the overall Teams’ World Championship standings.

It’s great to have continuity in our driver line-up as Sébastien and Robin lead us into Season 11. Despite Season 10 not being our strongest year, we are confident that the momentum we gained in the closing rounds can be taken into next season and put us back where we want to be.
Sylvain Filippi, Managing Director & CTO of Envision Racing.

As a team, we improved significantly towards the end of last season to get back to the front of the grid, and the results showed this. We will continue to push to ensure that we head to Sao Paulo with the same level of competitiveness.
    Buemi on the news.

I started off Season 10 relatively strong, with a podium in Round 3, however it took some time to adjust to the new car and style of racing. We worked extremely hard to make that adjustment and by the end were fighting at the front again, so our focus now is on continuing that into next season.
    Frijns added.

  • Bahrain to host pre-season testing

Formula 1 and governing body the FIA have announced that the Bahrain International Circuit will be hosting three days of pre-season testing in 2025 on February 26th – 28th.

Arriving on the calendar back in 2004, Bahrain was the Middle Eastern venue to host an F1 race and celebrated its 20th anniversary with the 2024 edition of the event.

In the 20 years since the first Grand Prix the 5.41km circuit has delivered nine winners from five different teams, with Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc all claiming victory from the current grid.

The 24 round 2025 F1 season – which will mark 75 years of Formula 1 – is set to kick off with the Australian Grand Prix from March 14th – 16th and conclude with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on the weekend of December 5th – 7th, taking in trips to five of the world’s seven continents.

  • Nato joins Rowland at Nissan

Nissan will pair Oliver Rowland and Norman Nato for the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Following a fruitful partnership in the Gen2 era, Rowland enjoyed a strong Season 10 with the team. The British driver took two victories, including a home win in the final race of the year.
In addition to two Julius Baer Pole Positions and five further podiums on his way to fourth in the standings.

Not only this, Formula E race winner, Norman Nato will be returning to the Japanese squad, having previously raced in cherry blossom during Season 9 (2022/23).

The French driver was a regular in the points, securing the team’s first podium finish under full Nissan ownership at the 2023 Rome E-Prix. Nato will be replacing Sacha Fenestraz.

I’m excited to continue with Nissan Formula E Team after a very strong year. It’s been great to have some time off, I’ve been training and working with the team which has been positive. For next season we need to try and bring more consistency to all elements of our race weekends, whether that’s in qualifying or car development. Last year, we executed some races perfectly, so for this season we have to maintain that progress and improve the small bits we can to continue moving further up the order. I’ve known Norman for a few years, he’s very experienced and knows the team well, and I’m looking forward to working together. The GEN3 Evo car will be a challenge for everyone on the grid, so it’s a chance for us to maximize our performance and start the season on the front foot. I also want to give my best to Sacha, I enjoyed working with him during Season 10 and hope to see him back on the grid soon.
    Rowland on the news.

I’m really happy to be back with the team. We ended Season 9 strongly together and I’m looking to pick up where we left off. We will be aiming to perform straight away, so the fact I know the car and the team will be helpful. Oli proved how quick he is last season, we’ve been battling on track since Formula Renault 2.0 but never been teammates! I’m sure we will get along well and hopefully we can share some podiums together. It will be interesting to see how the car has improved, and the goal is clear. We want to win races and championships. Finally, I wish Sacha all the best, he’s a top guy and it’s never easy to replace someone you previously partnered with. I’m sure we will be racing each other again very soon.
    Nato on the news.

We’re excited for Season 11 after a very good performance in the last campaign. We’ve refreshed our driver line-up by welcoming back Norman, who will bring his wealth of experience and performance. Norman knows the team well and showed his talent when he was previously with us. His feedback and insight are valuable and he has a track record of developing cars, so we are delighted to see him return. Oli had a fantastic Season 10, and we’re confident he can continue at that level. We believe that Norman and Oli will form a strong pairing, both are team players and will do their best to help us improve throughout the upcoming year. At the same time and while it hasn’t been an easy decision, we have to say goodbye to Sacha. He has been a fundamental part of the establishment and development of Nissan Formula E Team, and we thank him for his hard work and his ever positive attitude. We’re proud to have grown together with him, and wish him all the best for his future career.
Tommaso Volpe, Managing Director and Team Principal.

  • Porsche announces Season 11 drivers

Porsche will again field our newest Champion Pascal Wehrlein alongside Season 6 title-winner Antonio Felix da Costa in Formula E Season 11.

Crowning a best season to date in electric motorsport’s top tier since the Stuggart marque joined the fold back in 2019/20.

The team wound up second in the Teams’ running, just four points shy of winner Jaguar TCS Racing, and finished second to the Jaguar squad in the Manufacturers’ Trophy.

Da Costa fought off mid-season speculation to tear to a storming run of four wins in five between Berlin and Portland to place him in title contention heading into London.

  • Newey joins Aston Martin

Aston Martin have announced they have signed Adrian Newey, with the Formula 1 design guru joining the team on a multi year deal as Managing Technical Partner.

Back in May, Red Bull announced Newey was leaving the reigning champions after almost 20 years which meant the British designer was officially on the market.

It triggered a flurry of conversations with rival teams – which include Aston Martin, Ferrari and Williams and ahead of the Azerbaijan Aston Martin announced they’d won the fight.

Newey will be joining on March 1st 2025, which will be in time to have an impact on the 2026 car that will be built to new regulations including a new power unit formula.

He will have access to a brand new factory, including a new wind tunnel and in loop simulator. With also integrating a new works power unit supplier in the shape of Honda.

I am thrilled to be joining the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team. I have been hugely inspired and impressed by the passion and commitment that Lawrence brings to everything he is involved with. Lawrence is determined to create a world-beating team. He is the only majority team owner who is actively engaged in the sport. His commitment is demonstrated in the development of the new AMR Technology Campus and wind tunnel at Silverstone, which are not only state of the art but have a layout that creates a great environment to work in. Together with great partners like Honda and Aramco, they have all the key pieces of infrastructure needed to make Aston Martin a world championship-winning team and I am very much looking forward to helping reach that goal.

    Newey on the news.

This is huge news. Adrian is the best in the world at what he does – he is at the top of his game – and I am incredibly proud that he is joining the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team. It’s the biggest story since the Aston Martin name returned to the sport and another demonstration of our ambition to build a Formula One team capable of fighting for world championships. As soon as Adrian became available, we knew we had to make it happen. Our initial conversations confirmed that there was a shared desire to collaborate in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Adrian is a racer and one of the most competitive people I have ever met. When he saw what we have built at Silverstone – our incredible AMR Technology Campus, the talented group of people we have assembled and the latest wind tunnel in the sport – he quickly understood what we are trying to achieve. We mean business – and so does he. Adrian shares our hunger and ambition, he believes in this project, and he will help us write the next chapter in Aston Martin Aramco’s Formula One story.

  • F1 Academy – RND 5 Day 1

    Practice-

Alpine’s Abbi Pulling started as she means to go around the Marina Bay Street Circuit, ending Free Practice fastest of all.
The only driver to set a time inside the 2:03s, the standings leader kept building a gap over the pack.

The 16 drivers made the most out of every second of the 30 minute session as they began acclimatising to both the track and humidity.

Doriane Pin set the early benchmark with a 2:11.332 whilst Wild Card Ella Lloyd brought out a brief yellow flag after stopping momentarily on track.

As the track rubbered in, times continued to tumble. Pin went fastest once more, but only momentarily as PREMA Racing teammate Maya Weug utilised the tow to pull out an advantage of over one second.
The trio traded personal best efforts and Weug responded quickly.

Drivers were all finding the limit and discovering how the Singaporean streets punish mistakes. A spin from Jessica Edgar saw the American Express driver tap the barrier at Turn 8.

Inside the final 12 minutes, Pulling became the first driver to go below the 2:04s mark, going over four tenths faster than Weug.

Track evolution allowed the field to push until the end, as purple and green sectors littered the timing screens. As Pulling went fastest again on a 2:04.648, Marti climbed up into second.

Pin returned to the top spot in the final minute, but it would be Pulling who’d take the chequered flag first and leapfrog the Mercedes driver into P1, setting a 2:03.993.

    Qualifying-

Abbi Pulling overcame a three-way fight with Maya Weug and Doriane Pin to seize both pole positions on offer around the Singaporean streets.

The trio traded personal bests throughout the session, but it was the Alpine driver who emerged triumphant, posting an unbeatable 2:03.631 with five minutes left on the clock.

Nerea Marti opened qualifying on a 2:06.806 but the Tommy Hilfiger driver’s initial exploration was swiftly beaten by Pulling.

The Brit’s pace continued to build, as her second flying lap of a 2:04.662 launched her almost five tenths clear.
Weug and Pin each demoted her in turn, before Pulling responded with a 2:04.335 to go top by 0.040s.

As the Campos Racing and ART trio led the field peeling into the pits, there was a nervous moment for Amna Al Qubaisi as the RB driver span over the run-off in Sector 1.

Fining more grip on their second set of tyres, personal bests flooded in inside the final five minutes. Pulling re-emerged out in front posting a 2:03.631, whilst Weug became her nearest competitor.

Pulling couldn’t improve on her final attempts, but nobody could answer her previous attempt as Weug and Pin had to settle for second and third, 0.238s and 0.256s back, respectively.

A storming last gasp effort for Lia Block promoted her to fourth, her best qualifying result of the season so far!

The full top 10 are- Pole: Pulling, P2: Weug, P3: Pin, P4: Block, P5: H Al Qubaisi, P6: Chambers, P7: Marti, P8: Lloyd, P9: Bustamante and P10: Schreiner.

  • RW 18 – Tyre Selection

There are around seven thousand kilometres separating Baku and Singapore and the entire Formula 1 circus has just tackled it.
This is the first time these two races have been run back-to-back.

The dry weather compounds chosen for 15th running of the Singapore Grand Prix of the Singapore Grand Prix are the same as last year’s and in face the same as at the past two races at Monza and Baku, C3 (Hard), C4 (Medium), C5 (Soft).

The circuit was modified last year with the aim of making it flow better, but it is still one of the twistiest of the season. Its length is now down to 4.940 kilometres so that the number of laps has been increased to 62.

In the final sector, between what used to include turns 16 to 19, a 400 metre straight has replaced them so that the number of corners has been reduced from 23 to 19.

As with all street circuits, the slightest mistake in Singapore comes at a high price, given there are very few run-off areas and running a fraction off-line can see you in the barriers.
Therefore the Safety Car is a common sight here especially as it takes quite a while to remove a stricken car from the track.

There are a few factors that make the one-stop is the only valid strategy: firstly the time lost for a tyre change pit stop is around 28 seconds, secondly overtaking on this track is complicated. A two-stop could only be considered in the event of the race being neutralised.

  • McLaren reveal special livery

McLaren will be joining Mercedes and RB in running a one-off livery at this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix, having presented a Legend Reborn design with partner OKX.

Co-designed by McLaren and OKX, the livery celebrates the MP4 era of McLaren from 1981 to 1996, blending the classic stripe design with McLaren’s papaya colour scheme “as a way of honouring the heritage of the team”.

It was officially unveiled at an on track event in Singapore, prior to the race weekend getting under way, with McLaren’s CEO Zak Brown and drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in attendance.

The livery also honours legendary McLaren racers such as Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost and Niki Lauda, with the names of 13 iconic drivers from the era integrated into the livery on the cockpit.

The new livery drops a week after McLaren took the lead of the F1 constructors’ championship for the first time in a decade, with the Woking-based team jumping ahead of Red Bull after Piastri’s win on the streets of Azerbaijan.

It is fantastic to bring back our third bespoke livery in Singapore with OKX. Legend Reborn is a great way to celebrate and honour our iconic history, in a way that unites fans old and new. Following on from this year’s Senna campaign, this livery further embodies our partnership with OKX as we continue to deliver unique story telling campaigns for McLaren fans and OKX customers globally.
