Haas to have special livery for home Grand Prix

Haas have presented a special livery that will adorn the cars of Hulkenberg and Magnussen on the team’s home race at the United States Grand Prix this weekend.

Austin is one of three American rounds on the current F1 calendar, alongside Miami and the new-for-2023 Las Vegas, and the US-led operation have taken the opportunity to mark the occasion.

After previewing one-off driver race suits last week, livery concept images have now been revealed, with the VF-23 sporting a ‘Stars & Stripes’ design including the team’s tagline for the weekend, ‘We The People’ which is the opening line of the United States Constitution.

Payment company MoneyGram will also celebrate their one-year anniversary as Haas’ title partner with an additional touch to the livery of the car, set to be revealed on the eve of the event this Thursday.

Meanwhile, there will be one more star on the livery, with the bright yellow emblem of the Starlight Children’s Foundation – which Haas continue to work with – adorning the rear wing of both cars.

Not only this, Haas will be introducing an upgrade package at the Circuit of The Americas, with team boss Guenther Steiner explaining the area of focus and the process behind the change.

Haas enter their home Grand Prix weekend sitting ninth out of 10 teams in the constructors’ standings, having fallen behind Alfa Romeo in Qatar last time out.

The upgrade on the VF-23 is aerodynamic. We changed the concept of the car because what we started with, because of the new regulations last year, we couldn’t make any more gains performance-wise. Creating more downforce and less drag, it just wasn’t there anymore, so we needed to change concept, to which is commonly known as the ‘Red Bull concept’ or the ‘downwash concept’. It is a substantial update, and we’re able to do this within the cost cap because we didn’t have any updates at the beginning of the season because again, going back, we couldn’t find any performance that we could make parts to put on the car.
