Williams have officially released development driver Dan Ticktum with immediate effect. The Brit joined Williams back in 2020, after being dropped by Red Bull’s junior programme back in 2019.
Ticktum helped Williams with their F1 team car development and also assisting them at the factory and at the race track. The reason for dropping is unknown however, Dan Ticktum took to his Instagram stories and said “Myself and Williams parted ways before the recent Latifi related incident just so people know. It wasn’t announced until now as there was no option for an F1 seat in 2022 for me. Thankyou to @williamsracing for the opportunity! Hope to work together in the future!”
Dan is currently sitting fourth in the F2 championship, his only 19 points from the championship leader, Oscar Piastri…
This now leaves Roy Nissany who has drove for the British team three times in FP3 this season, their reserve driver Jack Aitken and W Series champion Jamie Chadwick.
My Opinion-
Obviously a big shame for Dan as he hasn’t had an easy ride, first being dropped by RB and now Williams, it must be tough for him. I can’t really say much on my opinion for the reason of the departure as it hasn’t been officially announced, only what Ticktum has put onto his Instagram.
Is this a sign for the future seats for Williams? Have they already decided on who will be in their seats this year? Only time will tell!
